Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
Wow these waffles are perfect! I followed the recipe ingredients exactly, except I sift the flour and baking powder. If people are complaining that these are too salty, it may be from clumpy baking powder. Make sure you sift and mix all the dry ingredients well so the powder and salt are evenly distributed. Another tip is to make sure you know how to use your waffle iron. I recently was gifted one, and never made them before so i made this batter, poured it on the iron and promptly closed it, resulting in batter gushing out. The trick is not to overflow and to leave the iron open after pouring on the batter so the bottom side cooks a little first, reducing splatter and gushing onto your counters!

Caramel Pudding Cake

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
I followed the recipe exactly, and it was nothing special. Very disappointed with the turnout of this recipe, the cake was quite bland and the "carmel" topping made this way too sweet for my tastes. I did like the texture of the cake though, maybe next time I'll add more to the batter and less sugar in the sauce. But I probably will just look for a different pudding cake recipe than use this one again.

Chicken Biryani

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
This was the first biryani recipe that I tried and have been cooking it for about a year now whenever I'm craving some Indian food. I bought packaged spice mixes from my trip to India a two years ago and use the one labeled Madras curry and potato masala instead of measuring every single spice out, but I still add in the cinnamon sticks and whole cloves and it tastes great. I also add some more vegetables: carrots, peas and more potatoes, then it's a hearty main dish!

Brazilian Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
YUM! This is definitely not banana bread, I served it as Brazilian banana cake, cuz there's milk in it so it's really moist. I added 1/4 t of nutmeg and cinnamon into the batter and sprinkled brown sugar instead of white on top of the sliced bananas. The results: a nice banana-y surprise and a pretty brown sugar and cinnamon swirl in the middle of the cake. Soooo goood!
