Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: May 24, 2012
This was good, but not amazing. After a few bites, I realized that it was really just another version of Southern chocolate pie. Maybe this is silly, but I don't see the point of calling a pie a "cake." Would be excellent with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. I also think that next time I make this I will line the bottom of the pan with a chocolatey crumble crust (I'm not gluten intolerant).

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: May 3, 2012
These turned out well. I also just used a cookie sheet. I thought they were good, but not aMAZing, but everyone I gave them to kept raving about them.

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
Honestly, I prefer every other coffee cake recipe I've ever tried. I was expecting this to be great--it's super unhealthy and the batter smelled heavenly--unfortunately it was just a little too sweet without the rich, almost creamy flavor that makes coffee cake so great. I honestly don't know how that's possible given the ingredients, but I certainly will not be making this again. I'm just sad that now my husband and I are stuck with an entire pan of unhealthy and poor-tasting coffee cake.

Crepes

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
Super easy and as a crepe should be. I didn't bother refrigerating (the purpose of crepes is a quick, no-hassle dessert) but they still turned out wonderfully.

Pull-Apart Easter Blossom Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
Excellent. As per others' suggestions, I used the Cheese Filling in this recipe, making holes to put it in after the dough had risen. After I baked it, I also added some raspberry jam, and I used a more mild glaze with just a little lemon zest so that it wouldn't be too lemony and conflict with the cheese filling. It was delightful and looks wonderful.

Vegetarian Chickpea Sandwich Filling

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2011
First of all, I'm a fan of chickpeas; I love hummus and falafel, so it was a surprise to me when this just ended up... bad. I felt like I put in a normal amount of mayonnaise (maybe more than the recipe called for) and it still turned out chalky and dry. I tried adding things to get it more moist/flavorful (like cream cheese, which I often substitute in for mayonnaise)--this helped a little. Because this is so simple, I'm pretty sure the fault was the recipe's; not mine.

Chicken Enchilada Soup II

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
I'm not the hugest fan of velveeta cheese, so I replace it with half the amount of mild cheddar cheese. The soup was good overall, but nothing to write home about. A little bit too heavy. You could possibly adjust that by adding more water initially.

Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
These are good when you first make them, but if you leave the batter in the fridge overnight and then make them they are DIVINE. Such a difference in taste. It's amazing!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
I used the suggestion to add chicken broth instead of wine... not the greatest. It just seems very rich and buttery without having much taste.

Bermuda Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
The sauce seemed to be lacking in kick. I would maybe add more vinegar or use onion powder as well. Overall, though, it was a great salad, and much enjoyed; it's nice just to have something a little different.
