Bacon Roll Ups II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
Love the simplicity of this app! I use pineapple cream cheese (or I mix a can of pineapple w/plain cream cheese). I roll out the bread with a rolling pin, spread the cream cheese, roll & then wrap with bacon. I make these ahead of time, wrap in plastic wrap and freeze them. I defrost these before baking and slice while still partially frozen - it is much easier & cleaner to cut these while firm than once cooked or right after you roll them. These are great to have on hand and each time I have made this app, they are gone within minutes & people always ask what they are and how to make them!

Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Well, these were loved by everyone at Thanksgiving & have replaced apple pie on our table forever! They are time consuming to prepare, but I did mine the day before and baked 15 - 20 minutes longer while we sat down to dinner & they came out perfectly. I used small(ish) Granny Smiths and because my butter was so small, I just added the spices to the softened butter and stuffed the hollowed cores with the softened spiced butter. Again, a really delicious recipe that was made ahead and loved by everyone in the family.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
These are so easy & delicious that I cannot imagine buying the store brand again. I used the Hershey's special dark cocoa, which made them extra delicious. No frosting for me - not needed. The office loved these & ate them up in minutes. I will make again & again.

Apple Dumplings with Rich Cinnamon Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Absolutely delicious! Made them with crescent rolls, Granny Smith apples and got rave reviews for Thanksgiving. This will be a standard & will take over apple pie.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
We have made this a few times & it is always a huge hit. I don't use mayo - sour cream instead. Also, have added more peppers and used cheddar cheese - it is always great! We serve with pretzel bites & it is outstanding!

Champagne Punch III

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
Mmmm! I love this punch. I have served it at several showers and it is always a hit. Very refreshing and light. Looks pretty and tastes delicious. Much better than the sherbet punch. I always use riesling, dry champagne and club soda. Highly recommend this for any party!

Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
Wonderful new appetizer recipe. We served this at Christmas and despite being asparagus, it was gone in no time. We are serving it at a cocktail party next week and are so looking forward to enjoying this again. A little expensive, but a nice treat!

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2007
This recipe is a life save on Thanksgiving day. The gravy is DELICIOUS and it takes all the guesswork out of making gravy on the big day. You can make it long ahead of time and heat it in a crock pot all day or stovetop. No one will ever guess it isn't pan roasted that day. Add some of the drippings to it before serving & you have the best turkey gravy!

Banana Nut Coconut Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
I love this recipe! I also added 4 ripe bananas and omitted the nuts. Instead of making my own frosting, I used the delicious whipped frosting from Betty Crocker. According to my family, the cake is even better when served cold from the refrigerator. Delicious and different way to use those ripe bananas!

Salsa Cheese Boule Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
Delicious! Very easy to make for a last minute appetizer/dip. I use picante sauce because I don't like all of the chunks in salsa. Very good!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
Wonderful! Super easy. I omitted the onions - don't like them & added onion powder. Also substituted a few dashes of hot sauce for cayenne b/c it is what I had on hand. Delisious! So fresh tasting & super easy!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
Nice twist on cornbread. This turned out very moist and was delicious. I omitted the can of regular corn and also added a few dashes of hot sauce for a kick. I baked it for approx. 50- 55 min and it was perfect. I will definitely make again!

Spicy Maryland Crab Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
I omitted the mayo & substituted with more sour cream. It was still wonderful! I probably used about 1 Tbsp. of old bay in the dip and then sprinkled another teaspoon on top. I also baked the dip in a sourdough bread bowl and served it with sourdough bread cubes. WOW. The bread & dip were terrific together. This was gone in minutes. More flavor than regular crab dips.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2007
Bets bruschetta recipe I have ever had! This is not too garlicky or contain onions, but it is sooooo flavorful. Like other reviewers, we used half the oil (since the sun dried tomoatoes are packed in oil, it adds plenty of oil). Instead of shredded mozzarella cheese, we cubed up fresh mozz and very lightly warmed the bruschetta in the oven before serving. Within 2 weeks, we made this 3 or 4 times for holiday parties and got rave reviews each time!

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2007
WOW!!!! These are incredible (to eat & incredibly easy to make). Our family prefers them chilled to warm out of the oven, but they aren't bad either way, to be honest! Red. fat cream cheese works well and I cut the butter to 5 or 6 Tbsp. 1/2 cup (8 Tbsp.) just seemed like too much. No difference at all with less butter, though. We had them at a family member's house on a Saturday & by Monday, 2 of us had already made at least one tray of them & gobbled them up. Yum-O!!!

Stuffed Jalapenos III

Sooooooo yummy, easy to make and inexpensive, too! Based on other reviews, I used the pineapple cream cheese and all 24 peppers were devoured in minutes. Great flavors and a super addition to the appetizers for any occasion.

Clams Casino

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2006
Very tasty and fairly easy to make, too! Next time I will only use 3/4 cup bread crumbs, but overall, this is a DELICIOUS recipe for clams casino. We baked our clams in muffin cups, which reserved the juice and made the clams all the more tasty!

Cappuccino-Kissed Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
Velvety smooth cheesecake with subtle flavors that work quite well together! I decorated mine with homemade whipped cream & chocolate covered espresso beans. This was a huge hit at Christmas last year & has been added to the official dessert list. I also added a touch of cinnamon to my crust. The coffee taste is not overwhelming and the chocolate is not too much for the richness of the cheesecake. Great recipe for special occasions!

French Onion Soup XI

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2005
This was pretty good. For me, it wasn't the best flavor for french onion soup, but that's my taste. It was good and I enjoyed it, but I have had better. I liked the change in flavor, but I prefer more standard broths wiht the sherry/wine flavor for this soup. Glad I tried it, though.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2005
Very good muffins. Moist, flavorful and good mix of banana and spices. I agree with others that you have to be familiar with crumb toppings...use thin sliced, COLD butter and continue to prick it with a fork. Muffins were also great toasted for days after, with a little butter. Yummy!
