About this Cook
I'm a nurse working 12 hr shifts. so I love my slow cooker and quick & easy recipes. I'm also a cat lover, owned by 5 little cat people. I cook for them occasionally but very simply. They are not gourmet cats!!
My favorite things to cook
Vegetable soup, Chicken Pot Pie, Thanksgiving dinner, Chicken/Broccoli Casserole, Coconut Custard Pie (Aunt Ethel's recipe), Sweet Potato Pie, Frozen Pizza haha
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving Dinner, My Mom's Franklin Nut Cake, Aunt Ethel's Coconut Custard Pie, Southern Fried Chicken, Grandma's Sweet Potato Cobbler
My cooking triumphs
My Grandmother's homemade biscuits, once, when I moved into my first apartment and cooked my first T'giving dinner. Sadly, I've never been able to do it again quite so perfectly.
My cooking tragedies
At age 14, burnt toast, runny grits, overcooked scrambled eggs and bad coffee for my military brother-in-law leaving for his next post. And he ate it, bless his heart. Years later, we talked about it, and he said it was the best breakfast ever because I cooked it for him. What a guy!!! "But he had eaten military grub all over the world, so it might not have been the 'worse' he ever had"

Chicken Bog
I love Chicken Bog so much, and it truly is a regional recipe. I'm from Greenville SC & know it from my SIL who grew up in Florence SC. I was @ work in Clearwater FL one year and said I was bringing Chicken Bog for our Christmas Dinner. One of the guys said, "How do you know about that? I never knew anyone who knew what that is". He had been stationed at Parris Island and a friend's GM made it for him. He was delerious when I brought it in. He was a big guy and loved him some CB!! I love it with the little maple (or plain) breakfast sausages. Oh yeah, no self-respecting Southerner would use Italian Seasoning!!!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies
I buy marked-down candy after Halloween for such projects as this. It keeps very well. I had two bags of peanut butter cups. GREAT inexpensive cookies for treat give-aways. Hint: If cold, put in the m'wave for about 10 seconds...oh my!!!
