Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
OMG!!! I didn't actually try the chocolate version of this recipe but I am sure it is just divine!! I wanted to spice up the cake box recipe & found this but only had vanilla cake on hand. So instead of the Devil's Food Cake, I used Vanilla & instead of the chocolate pudding mix, I used vanilla. I also used about a cup of chocolate chunks. It was soooo gooood!!! & I can't wait to try the chocolate version! I also recommend not used the whole package of the pudding mix because I have used that amount before & it made the cake way to moist, as if it wasn't done all the way. I used about half of that & it turned out perfect.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
Not sure if I'm just not an apple crisp kind of person but I wasn't a fan. It was way too sweet. The crust was pretty good though.

Stuffed Shells IV

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
Awesome recipe! A couple of things I did differently: used beed instead of turkey, didn't have spinach on hand, & my family is not a fan of mushrooms so left those out too. It was still delish! Def cooking it again!

Beef Nacho Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
SOO GOOD! I did a couple of things differently such as using sour cream instead of Miracle Whip & didn't have any chili powder on hand. Made some beans & cheese, & mexican rise for the sides. Hmmm. It was the best homemade mexican dinner!

Pastitsio II

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
This was really good! I had to make some changes but it still turned out well! I didn't use as much onion (husband not a fan), no red wine, & water instead of vegie broth (didn't have it on hand). The noodles, however, were a little too hard & chewey on the top. Not sure what could be done since I think it is just due to them being in the oven.

Home-Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
Awesome potatoes! I didn't have any bell pepper on hand & only used a little bit of onion. My husband doesn't eat anything with onions so I didn't tell him & he didn't even notice. I also used Idaho potatoes.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
Tasted just like the pretzels you buy at the mall! I did make mine a little too thick so it could have been cooked a little more in the middle. The pretzels rise & expand a lot so even if it looks as if you got a long, thin roll, it can probably be thinner.

Nacho Cheese Sauce

I didn't realize that this would taste just like nacho cheese you get for nachos or pretzels at concession stands. It was reaaly good & easy to make!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
Yum! This was so good! I used to not like green beans but fell in love with green bean casseroles & this is by far the best! I didn't use an onion & used regular canned green beans because that is what I had on hand so I am sure it is even better with the correct ingredients.

15-Minute Dinner Nachos Supreme

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
This was real easy & real good! After reading some reviews, I did cook the rice seperately & then mixed everything together. I had this on top of tortilla chips while my husband & my kids rolled it up in tortillas.

Rocky Road Squares

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
So yummy!!! I took these to work & they were gone shortly after. I did change the amount of walnuts, chocolate chips, & condensed milk. When layering, it seemed as if about half of each is plenty. I feel if I used what the recipe called for, it would have been way too sweet. I also didn't use any coconut since there is none in rocky road. But this is one of my favorite deserts for sure!

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
Very good! I have made this twice already. The first time I messed up the recipe and cooked the rice instead of letting it puff with the garlic but it still turned out really good. I just drained the water before the rice was cooked all the way and only used half the broth for the remaining cooking time when everything was mixed in. The second time I followed the recipe except I used salsa instead of the tomato paste which already comes with onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc. and that was really good also.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
Love this soup! If I didn't have to, I wouldn't change a thing but my husband doesn't like onions so I used a little bit of onion powder instead. I also only had 1 can of chicken broth which came out to be about 1 3/4 cup so for the rest I used water. We're bacon lovers so we definitely needed more than 3 strips of bacon. Some of us mixed in saltine crackers and it was delish! I think next time I make this, I'm going to also top with some sour cream and chives.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

THE BEST CHICKEN POT PIE. I am not too fond of the pot pie that you get from the store so I was hoping if I made it myself, it would turn out better. I was completely right. It was so good & easy!!! I didn't change a thing!

Oven Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
The best pot roast I have ever had. I have never made a pot roast but this is the kind of recipe that you can memorize. I did change a couple of things though. Thanks to the other reviews, I decided to cook it for 5 hrs. instead of the 3 that it calls for & I put the vegetables in the last 2 hrs. I also didn't have any wine so just used more water. But this recipe definitely taught me the basics of what to put in a pot roast!

Pillow-Soft Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
Very good recipe! I never thought that I would be able to make homemade rolls but it was easy. It wasn't as quick as the total time that it says it takes but it definitely took faster than most of the other recipes called for.
