Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
Excellent! So easy! I only had 3 large chicken breasts and 12 oz of Franks wing sauce, so I went with it and it worked out great! Added just a tad water with chicken boullion (I would estimate 4-5 Tbsp) with the 3/4 of the bottle of sauce and the dry ranch mix and it was very saucy and nice n spicy. My chicken wasn't dry at all at exactly 6 hrs. (last 1/2hr shredded chicken and let it soak up the sauce). I didn't miss the fatty fried skin at all! Tasted like a buffalo chicken sandwich you'd get in a restaurant, but it might be a tiny bit less fat/calories than the fried breast. :) I put extra sauce and ranch dressing on top before topping with the top bun (adding the fat back in!). Provelone or Jack cheese would have been great too. Definitely will be making again! We will be having buffalo chicken pizzas this week with the leftovers! Mm. Thanks for the great recipe.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
This wasn't as good as I expected. Maybe I over baked it, but I thought it was slightly dry. Or maybe it was since I used two loaf pans... The texture and color was very nice though. I may try it with a little less sugar as others have suggested since this was very sweet. (I love sweet, but I've never had a pound cake this sweet.) The batter made a LOT and two loaf cakes, so, I'm freezing one for later. Someone said it's even better after freezing for a while, so maybe that will improve the moisture issue. ? Anyway, we ate the first cake without a problem, so it's good; mine just wasn't 5-star. Thanks!

S'mores Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2011
Made without the peanuts and I didn't have the grahm crackers, but it turned out amazing. Everyone raved! Used mini mallows and added the toppings the last 6 minutes of baking. I will definitely be adding the grahms next time. Thanks for the awesome recipe idea!

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
This was just what I was looking for. Sweet and savory and just how I like it! I made it exactly as written (except no thyme). I even had a 5 1/2 lb loin and the sauce went far enough for all the meat. I was actually a little nervous about the chili powder, but it blended nicely with the sweetness of the other flavors. Highly recommend this recipe!

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
This was very good! My husband and I ate the entire recipe ourselves with broccoli and rice without any leftovers! I made this too orang-y by adding the cornstarch into extra orange juice, so next time I will definitely not do that, as the flavor was great before and the taste of the marinated chicken was perfect without the extra orange juice. I let chicken marinate overnight and dipped it in thinned egg before putting in the flour mixture and I think both helped the flavor and texture. Very good recipe - my first Asian-inspired recipe was a success. Thanks!

Lemon Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
Always gets wonderful reviews! Very moist and the right amount of lemon flavor! Opt for the fresh lemon as oposed to bottled; you can tell the difference! Love the icing, but I'm currently in search of the perfect "fluffy" lemon topping. Definite keeper.

Round Steak and Gravy II

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
I've made this a few times now and I'm never disappointed! This is the only way I will make round steak. It's so tender - hard to get when dealing with this cut of meat, I feel. I use the crock pot and it makes it even easier!

Turkey Goulash

Yuum! I love that it uses turkey, instead of beef and you can't even tell! It's so simple, but so good. My hubby couldn't get enough of it and gave it rave reviews.

Vickie's Beer Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
I was disappointed in this recipe. I too was looking for a recipe to replace the expensive, but yummy Tastefully Simple mix that we love and always get rave reviews about. I followed this recipe to a 'T.' and it turned out very dry and tastless, even with taking it out of the oven a tiny bit early. Might do some research on "tweeks" and try again. Others seem to like. Thanks for the recipe

Sweet Baby Carrots

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
I halved the sauce as others suggested, since we wouldn't be having bread to soak up the extras. It was perfect and very addicting! :)

Southern Fried Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
Yummy! The best I've made! And easy! I used the "real bacon - recipe pieces" since I don't like frying up bacon in the house very often, plus it's just easier and saves time. I think it tasted just as good. Plus, added a sprinkle of slivered almonds for some crunch at the end. These were just sooo good. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Banana-Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
I made some with the dried craisins and some with choc. chips (with the banana and zuc.). I added one banana and another cup zuc. as well as a couple extra T. of oil, but I stil felt the bread came out dry. If I try this again, I may reduce the bake time. All-in-all a good idea with the ingredient mixture for a fun flavor!

Honey Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
I never have ginger on hand, so I was looking for an easy stir-fry dish that didn't have ginger and gave this a try. It was delish. Definitely use low-sodium soy, as it was pretty salty with regular, even without adding any extra salt. However, I did triple the sauce and most of it boiled away quickly. It didn't even need the corn starch. Anyway, I would definitely make this again for a quick, easy meal. Thanks!

Rach's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
I didn't have frozen broc. but had a head and a half of fresh to use up. Steamed broccoli about 4 mins then mixed in half the soup mixture. Baked about 25 mins and turned out awesome! I'll use double broc. next time to make the full batch! Hubby loved it.

Sweet and Spicy Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Pretty good! I'm experimenting with sweet potatoes to find what I like best and this is a keeper. I made into fries (the seasoning would be amazing on regular homeade fries, but I'm trying to go the more healthy route!). Definitely use a ziplock bag to mix and foil on the pan. Microwaved in casserole dish with teaspon water for 5 mins, then cut them - much easier! Thanks for the recipe!!

Taco Bake II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
I only had 1 lb ground beef. Used half the tomatoes/chilles and kept everything else the same. Baked in 8x8 pan instead of 13x9 and 15 mins instead of 20. Only... I forgot the layers of chips after I did my first layer, but it still turned out very yummy! We just added chips after it was done. Used corn chips. Would recommend!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
This was my first from scratch pizza crust and it turned out amazing! I did have to use quite a bit more flour than 3 1/2 though. I'm sure it depends on the weather at the time. I ran out of all-purpose flour and after using the 3 1/2 cups I had, I used part whole wheat flour, part bread flour for the rest and loved the result. My picky, "anti-whole wheat" sister even loved it! :) I will have to look no further for a favoriate pizza recipe! Thanks for sharing!
