Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2015
INCREDIBLE! I pretty much followed the recipe to a t, but I threw in extra garlic because that's always a good idea. I've always kind of made up my own recipe for marinara before, and it was as good or better than anything I'd had before so I figured I'd done a pretty good job. But THIS recipe... my husband and I couldn't stop eating this out of the pan. It will definitely replace my old recipe.

Herb Roasted Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
Amazing! Instead of a 5 lb pork loin, I had a 1.5 lb pork roast. After reading several reviewers' suggestions, I didn't adjust the recipe to the smaller amount of meat so I had about 3X more ingredients for the meat. I adjusted the bake time for the amount of meat, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Freakin' delicious. I mostly picked this recipe because it was the best-looking pork recipe that didn't require hours of marinading (I did not plan ahead) so it was a nice surprise that it turned out so incredibly well.

Sauteed Sweet Plantains (Tajaditas Dulces de Platano)

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2014
Great recipe. It's simple, so it's flexible. I'm not a huge plantain fan, but had some I needed to get rid of, so I did these ultra sweet. My plantains were extremely ripe, and I cut them about 1/2 inch thick to maximize sugar exposure. I also cut them lengthwise to help them hold up to the thinner cut. They made a great dessert, although I think I gave our dinner guest a screwed view of what plantains are SUPPOSED to be like.

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
Great recipe! I used chocolate morsels instead of chocolate chips because it seemed more appropriate for a giant cookie to have giant chips. Didn't have a pizza pan, so I used two cake pans: one 9" round and one heart-shaped. I lined the pans with aluminum foil to make getting them out of the pans easy. The two big cookies were delicious and adorable!

Southern Dill Potato Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
Delicious! I don't normally like potato salad. It tends to be too mayonnaisey and heavy for me. But this is much lighter than most recipes and has a wonderful, unique flavor! I brought it to a work potluck, and everyone loved it. I followed to recipe exactly, but I used light mayo and sour cream. I'm really grossed out by "diety" tasting things, but everything worked great.

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2011
I looked up this recipe a few years ago when I discovered my boyfriend was in love with the tiramisu his late father used to make. I decided to make it for his birthday, and he flipped. Everyone loves it. It's become a birthday tradition now, and we even decided to use this recipe for our wedding cake! One of our guests told me that he's never liked tiramisu before, and he went back for fifths! The first time I made this, the lady fingers made up about half the cost. So since then, I've used angel food cake instead. You can make your own, but I'm usually so busy around my husband's birthday (he has the misfortune of sharing a birthday with Jesus) that I'll just pick two up at the grocery store for $4 and slice it up. It usually takes a bundt cake and a loaf cake. It's slightly sweeter, and not quite as pretty, but delicious.
