Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
I love all types of cake but I just couldn't eat this. I followed the instructions to the letter and the result was a heavy stodgy brick of cake. I also have a sweet tooth but this is ridiculously sweeet. It contains far too much sugar

Broccoli and Stilton Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
This is more or less on the nose - however it needs a little more stilton and maybe a swirl of cream before serving

Great texture. Far too sweet. I omitted a third of the sugar and will be reducing that again next time. However, there will be a next time!!

Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Crazy sweet (and I consider myself to be very sweet toothed) and very difficult to dip (kept breaking).

English Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
For an authentic english trifle use strawberry jello NOT jam. Also birdseye custard not vanilla pudding. We also use shop bought sponge fingers instead of the sponge cake. Fruit should be in the jello and top should be covered in whipped cream and sprinkled with coloured candy strands (hundreds and thousands)

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
Amazing! Really, truly delicious. Made double the mixture and only half the topping. My oven is slower than most so this took an hour at 150 degrees. Took approx 5 mins to eat the lot!!!!! Would recommend NOT omitting the walnuts as lend a special something.

Swedish Toscas (Swedish Almond Tarts)

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
OMG absolutely DIVINE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would only recommend doubling the pastry mixture and making half as much again of the filling. Also silicon cases are definately the way to go with these if you want to be able to remove them easily without breaking. Gorgeous - an absolute must

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2010
Absolutely divine! Must say mine didn't resemble the photo in that it turned out more like a very moist sponge cake than a bread, but it is soooo delicious! Note to diabetics - if you put this in a slightly longer tin and add pkt of baking powder instead of the tsp of baking soda, you can get 16 finger width slices out of this = 26g carbs in each slice

Kumquat Marmalade

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
Just made this and it's better than perfect! Made a couple of alterations - only added 2 cups of water per cup of fruit. Also discarded skin on the oranges and used 1/2 cup of lemon juice instead of 1/4
