Best Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
These are great! They didn't even last a day between two people. I substituted Jules gluten free flour to make it celiac safe and they came out tasting like the real thing. I didn't use a mixer because I didn't want them ending up cakey.

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
This is one of my favorite dishes brought to the table on Thanksgiving. It’s very similar to what my family makes. I added a bit more of brown sugar because mine seemed kind of soupy but it turned out great! This recipe is a keeper.

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
I was brought up on canned cranberry sauce every year on Thanksgiving and it never occurred to me to try to make it from scratch but I am sure glad I did. I will never buy canned again! I followed the recipe to a T and this was delicious! Best of all it’s naturally gluten free :)

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
This was my first Thanksgiving turkey and it came out great! My boyfriend raved all night. I will definitely use this recipe next year. Best of all it was naturally gluten free! The only thing I would do different is no veggies: they came out a bit oily in the bottom of the pan.

Spaghetti Salad I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
This is a favorite! I made it gluten free by replacing the noodles with Tinkyada Rice Pasta. I added sliced black olives, extra parmesan cheese, extra cayenne pepper, and parsley for looks. I also used white onion instead of red. Next time I would maybe use a little less Italian dressing – I like the flavor the spices naturally add versus the “store bought dressing salad”. I’ll definitely make this again.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
This is absolutely delicious! I made it gluten free by replacing the flour with “Jules Gluten Free Flour” (my favorite). I also took my time taking it out: Turned the oven off once it was done and opened the oven door and moved the rack out (leaving the pan on the rack for 5 to 10 minutes depending on how far it is done). This way it cools slower preventing the center from sinking which is VERY common with gluten free baked foods. I made it yesterday and there is only one piece left! This is a keeper.
