Root Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2002
Whoever said this recipe makes 6 to 8 servings must have been joking. It nearly filled my 5 quart dutch oven! I also thought it was odd that this recipe didn't call for any salt or pepper. I added some anyway, but it didn't help much. It was still pretty bland. I won't make this one again!

Barbecue Tofu Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2002
Probably would make it again, but this time using a better brand of barbeque sauce. The sauce I used (Hunt's) tasted like vinegar, which pretty much ruined it for me.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2002
I thought it was a pretty bland; needs something to spice it up a bit. Instead of just milk, try a can of cream of chicken soup, plus enough milk to bring it to desired consistency. Try sauteeing some onions in with the ground beef. Much better this way!

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2002
First of all, the crust was awful, and the filling lacked something: VANILLA! I made it again using my own pie crust recipe and added 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. I also omitted the finely chopped pecans, because it just seemed unnecessary. The result was FABULOUS! Not too sweet and lots of nuts, just right. I gave it 5 stars.

Hunter Style Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2001
This was very tasty! The only changes I would make would be to add plenty of minced garlic to the sauteed onions, then when the onions are done, blend in a tablespoon or two of tomato paste to give the sauce a little more body. Then don't add the mushrooms until about 15 minutes before the dish is done. Will definitely make again.

French Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2001
Maybe I did something wrong, but it was so sour from the mustard (Grey Poupon) I could barely stand it, and I am not a picky eater. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used 2 lbs stew beef. My husband thought it was good, but I definitely won't be making it again.

German Sauerkraut Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2001
I so wanted to give a good review, but it's still sitting in my refridgerator. I can't bring myself to taste it! The sour cream curdled, and it looks awful!

Italian Sausage and Zucchini

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2001
This was very good, although so much better the second day! I will make this again, but will either make it a day ahead or earlier in the day so flavors can blend. Next time may try adding sliced red bell peppers. Kid's couldn't handle the squash - but that was expected. Served it over angel hair pasta with lots of fresh grated parmesan. Yum!
