Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
I used 8 apples (fuji & gala;) soaked in water with lemon juice while I cut them up. With the apple seasoning I added 1T apple cider vinegar, omitted the water. Overall I used 1/2 the sugar called for. Used my fingers to smoosh up the butter into the brown sugar and flour, then I added the oatmeal (regular.) Baked in 9 x 13 glass pan. It turned out great: moist, with plenty of topping. We added unwhipped cream. I'll definitely be making this again!! Thanks for sharing!!

Low Carb Zucchini Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
I'm low-carbin' it and thought I'd try these for a different breakfast. They are deliciously savory. I put the zucchini in a thin cotton towel in the colander, salt it and then wring out the liquid. I added extra parmesan and used minced red onions. FABULOUS!! I'll be making these again.

Vegan-Friendly Falafel

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
I make these with the tahini-sauce from the review and the tzatziki. EXCELLENT!!! Next time I'll make these gluten-free by using my Bob's Red Mill gluten free flour, or some oatmeal ground up in the coffee grinder. Makes a ton. Next time I'll halve the recipe unless I share it with another family.

EXCELLENT recipe! I doubled the meat, used basil instead of cilantro, used 1/2 the red pepper flakes and accidentally mixed the feta with the meat. Served with tzatziki and salad. Yummy!! I'll be making these again fer shur!

Marinated Tofu

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
Delicious flavor! I didn't marinade it, just eye-balled the ingredients and baked it for 10 min. @ 425. Served it with stir fried veggies & rice. Topped it with sweet chilli sauce. Will definitely make it again. I may even plan to marinade overnight!

Angie's Dad's Best Cabbage Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
Next time I make it I'm going to use 1/2 the sugar, and probably half the liquid too. It tastes amazing! I saved the liquid and will make more slaw this week. I added Bragg's amino acids and a little mayo. YUM!!

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This recipe is just like my Granma Mary used to make. I made several batches this year and prefer the larger chunks of pecans. I also made a couple of batches using the toffee dust after my boyfriend chopped up his his homemade toffee. But the pecans are the best IMHO.

Prime Rib

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
Easy! We were a little nervous about cooking a $90 prime rib for the first time, but it came out PERFECT!!!! We ordered a 10# roast with the bone on. We just took it out of the fridge 3 hours before roasting, sprinkled on some s & p (didn't do the garlic or the mustard) and followed the directions exactly. I usually only care for the rare part of the meat, but on this roast even the well-done ends were succulent. The meat browns even though it's covered. The smell was incredible. Every person was "oooohing" and "aaaaahing!" Great recipe!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
Outstanding apple pie. Easy to make. I coated the cut apples in lemon and cinammon before putting in the pie-pan (per other reviews)...otherwise followed the recipe. Everyone loved this pie. Recipe is a keeper.

Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
Yummy, easy recipe! I used panko bread crumbs mixed with italian herbs & parmesan after dipping the chicken in a mixture of oil, butter and garlic. I baked the chicken on racks. The chicken was moist and delicious. I'll definitely make this again.

Barley, Lentil and Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
I made this soup with my home made beef stock and the flavor was amazing! I love the combo of barley and mushrooms with the lentils. That said, next time I'm going to use 1/2 the barley and more lentils. That barley soaked up all of the liquid! Very yummy recipe!

Grandma Winnie's Turkey Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
This recipe made enough stuffing to fill our 15 # turkey. We used fresh mushrooms instead of canned and the seasoning packets that came with the bread crumbs. We added toasted nuts after the stuffing came out of the turkey. A very delicious traditional stuffing! It was moist and flavorful. Everyone like it and I'll make it again. I think I'll add more salt next time.

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
Very different and tangy with flavor. I used orange juice instead of the whole orange; and powdered ginger instead of the nutmeg. I decided to follow the advice of a previous reviewer to add the toasted nuts to the cooked sauce. Really yummy! Will make again.

These potatoes were very tasty. Made Thanksgiving easier since I could do them the day in advance. I'll be making them again.

Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage and Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
I literally just finished eating this soup. It is amazing! I used 2 bottles of Weinhard beer and Better Than Chicken jarred stock and some water. Also used up the last of the garden tomatoes that miraculously ripened in the house. Next time I'll use canned tomatoes. I also added Italian herbs as suggested in some of the other reviews and of course my secret ingredient, Bragg's Amino Acids...a MUST for soup. This is a beautiful recipe that is very adaptable! Thanks for sharing!

Not Red Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
We all loved this recipe and I'll be making it again. I used 1/2 stick of butter, based on some of the other reviews. Otherwise I didn't really measure anything...just used what I had. For me, the key was the cooking sherry and extra zucchini that I really cooked down to make the nice sauce. I also added 2 cloves of garlic. Garnished with parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Next time I'll use a penne or rotini instead of the buotini I had on hand. YUMMY!!

Feta-Stuffed Hamburgers

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
I read the reviews and the advice that someone gave about handling the meat as little as possible, but these burgers took quite a bit of handling. I under-seasoned them, so next time I'll do better with that. These burgers smelled better than they tasted. I loved them in pita with tzatziki (the recipe on this site is amazing.) I will make these again...they seem worthy.

Tzatziki

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
This tzatziki was like ambrosia! I cut the recipe down to 1 C. greek yogurt (Zoi brand) and sliced the regular cuke thin and small and salted it for about an hour. Followed the recipe without adding any additional salt and it turned out delectable! Next time I will use more cucumber. Thanks for the excellent recipe!

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
This salad is really fresh and healthy and was a big hit at the BBQ! I used 2 cut apples in place of raisins, which aren't my favorite; blended 1/2 mayo & 1/2 plain greek yogurt; used lime juice instead of white wine vinegar; substituted 1 small scoop stevia instead of the sugar. I also added salt & pepper and a nice dash of Bragg's amino acids, which in my opinion adds a dash of delicious mystery to any dish. I'll be making this again!

Cherry Tomato Corn Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2011
Very delicious! I didn't have cukes, so added 1/2 red bell pepper instead and still it was great. Also, since I love lime so much I added more.
