Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2002
This recipe was soo easy and tasted pretty good! I didn't have marjoram or cloves and all I had was some ground sage and the Italian Spices (which contained a bit of rosemary, marjoram, sage etc) So I improved with 1 1/2 tsp of ground sage and 1 tsp of the Italian Spices. I thought it was a bit too sweet (even though I like sweet sausages). Although I think that the sausage tastes better after a few days in the freezer then cooked. I definitely recommend this recipe but I'd give it a 2-3 days in the freezer to set (just make sure to make it into patties before you freeze it, makes a better of a time than defrosing a hunk of meat.) But overall Great recipe Lee! Thank you very much for sharing it ^_^

Ahi Poke Basic

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2002
Yummy! I ommitted the macadamia nuts but all in all it was pretty good! 1 cup of soy sauce was a bit too much, as well as the 3/4 cup of green onions so i reduced it. But if you're a sashimi lover here's a recipe for you!

Lumpia (Shanghai version)

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2001
It was a hit at my husband's pot luck party! They all loved it! I used ground pork and it tasted terrific!! I made another batch for the house, I used ground beef it wasn't as great. I suggest using ground pork. Also, I'd add about 1 tbs of onion powder and maybe 1 tsp of msg. Lessen on the black pepper..maybe just a 1 tsp. 2 1/2 is just way way too much.

Pesto

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2002
I had too much basil in my little "basil garden" and every other day i get about handful of basil (had to trim it every other day to let the little leaves at the bottom get sunlight). I've made spagetti sauce with basil and I love it...but I was running out of ideas and with 2 well packed zip lock sandwich bags filled with basil. So viola! I made pesto. If you're a pesto/basil lover you'd definitely love this recipe! Put it over some french bread and some cheese and pop it in the oven. Yummy!

World's Greatest Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yummy Yummy! I loved the cookies and so did my husband. The only thing I did differently was put the chocolate chips within the batter, i found that a lot easier. But other than that it was a great recipe!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: May 26, 2002
This recipe was pretty good! I've never made baked beans and I'm really impressed with the outcome. I ended up soaking my beans for almost 2 days (couldn't find a long enough time i was at home) While I was preparing everything it slipped my mind that we had no onions! So I subtituted with onion powder. I also didn't want it to take too long so i did a quick shortcut to boiling the beans in a pressure cooker for 10mins, And boy was i relieved it wasn't mush when i opened it! It actually turned out pretty well. There was some that was mushed up but it's something you could expect even when just boiling it and stirring so it wouldn't stick at the bottom. I shoule have lessened the time to maybe 8 mins, but i was pretty content with the outcome. So for you who have pressure cookers and want to cut back on 2hours of cooking time, i suggest 8-10 mins in the pressure cooker. I thought i could also shorten the time while baking...but after 2 hours in the oven (and a bowl of the beans down my tummy) i decided that it wasn't quite done. So i set the timer for an hour and 15mins more and viola! The husband loved it and so did I! The center turned out with little to no sauce when I served it, so instead of layering all the beans at the bottom, at suggest doing 2 layers of beans and sauce. It turned out dryer than i expected but you can remedy that with a tad bit more sauce and the water you boiled the beans in. Great Job Anita! Thanks for sharing.

This was great! It took a whole lot faster than 3-4 hours...I only had a 10lbs turkey and it took about 2 hrs. It was really fast and it smells soo delicious. VERY VERY moist!!! Everyone loved it! Even my non-turkey-loving husband ^_^!

Pecan Pie VII

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
I can't believe I forgot to rate this. This recipe was sooooo good! It was Christmas dinner and dear me, I had no corn syrup in hand...no stores open either! So, with much lookin I finally found a pecan pie recipe that didn't incorporate corn syrup! This was a winner! Absolutely yummy! Only thing I substituted was butter for the margarine it called for. Other than that, I stuck to the recipe with verrry yummy results! Thanks Deanne!

General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2003
Although I LOVED the fried chicken, I certainly didn't like the sauce very much. Better than the chinese restaurant over here when I live now...but defintely still not the best. I highly recommend the fried chicken though. I really never thought of coating chicken in just soy sauce and cornstartch and pepper. The fried chicken alone was a great hit with my husband.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2002
Yummy! At first look, I thought the brownies were cakey (and i definitely don't like cakey brownies) but these turned out great! I still love the store bought boxes but if you don't have any on hand here's a superb substitute! I also liked that it stayed moist for more than a few days. Thanks Angie!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2001
Yummy Yummy Carrot Cake!!! This was the first time I've made carrot cake and I was surprised this tasted sooooo good! Even without the icing! I didn't have any pecans nor did I have cream cheese AND I only had 3 eggs left so I halved the recipe, no pecans added and no icing. It tasted wonderful! Only, instead of the 1 cup of white sugar, I put half a cup white sugar and half a cup of brown sugar. Also, instead of half the oil I needed, I only used 1/2cup of oil. I made mine in a loaf pan. One word I would describe this recipe? Yummy. Definately a keeper in my recipe book!

Elaine's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2001
The cookies came out very dry and chalky and it crumbled very easily. I didn't like it at all. Although, my 2nd and last batch was alright. In this batch I added 1/3 cup of brown sugar and a bit if margerine and some chocolate chips. It made it taste a lot better and a bit more moist but it still crumbled. I threw away the first batch and kept the last 2. I'll probably not make this again.

Bacon Mushroom Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2003
My husband is on the Atkins diet and this is a pretty good recipe for it. My only qualm was it was REALLY greasy. The taste was a little bland too but a little more seasonings would fix that up. But overall it was okay. Thank you for sharing your recipe though. Trying to find Carb friendly recipes is a bit hard.

Banana Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2002
My whole family loved it! I thought it was a bit too sweet and bland tasting but I'm thinking that's just in the very beginning because when I ate it again after being in the fridge for a few hours it tasted sooo much better. I guess letting it sit for a while makes a difference. (I tend to slice off a piece or two of anything I bake right after it gets out of the oven hehe) I made 1/2 the batch and added more walnuts and bananas. This was a great recipe!
