About this Cook
Single mother, raising a developementally delayed son, whom I adopted. Last of the kids, being as I have raiased 5 more! All my kids loved to eat, and I love to cook, so that means Heaven to me!
My favorite things to cook
Southern style, but also some Northern cooking, as I am originally from Michigan.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have many. I really enjoy slow cooking, and find a whole lot of ways to enhance the recipes. I am one of those cooks, that never measure anything, especially after the first time. Unfortunately, if someone wants the recipe, I have to give them a "guess".
My cooking triumphs
I made a cheesecake, from scratch, and baked it in a iron skillet/spider, and put mixed fruit on top. It was a real triumph. I had the most compliments. Everyone wanted the recipe, and how I did it.
My cooking tragedies
Most of my tragedies are with turkey. Once he caught on fire in my oven, another time he slid out of the pan, while I was taking him out of the oven. Thats what you get when you are cooking a 22# turkey. Tom hit the floor, and so did I, as the grease came flying out, and I slid in it. Very funny to watch tho, as my sons would say!

Fabulous Homemade Bread
I would be sure to freeze some of this bread. I really don't understand the problem with 6 loaves if you have a freezer. Just makes your life a little easier. I love freshly made bread. The store stuff just turns me off!

Slow Cooker Creamed Corn
I have made this for the last 2 Thanksgivings. Everyone loved it and asked me for directions so they could make it.

I loved it. So quick and easy. There's also a dozen different ways you can add to it, to make it "YOURS".
