Sausage Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2015
I have been preparing this for years, but as written it is quite bland. Here are my modifications: brown the sausage with half a diced onion and garlic. Add a dash of cayenne pepper. Substitute Velveeta for the cream cheese...cube up a two inch chunk and mix in while sausage is still hot. I have also tried some shredded carrot and bell pepper. Makes a very pretty presentation. I don't bother with the poppy seed or egg wash. This is always a favorite appetizer.

Coconut Poke Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2014
I have made this cake before and this is what you do: Bake in two 9" cake pans. While cakes bake, toast coconut in a skillet for a couple of minutes, till light brown. Make fresh whipped cream, add coconut flavoring. Warm coconut cream (NOT cream of coconut) and scm in microwave, just until blended. Allow cake layers to cool, remove from pans. Frost bottom layer with half the whipped cream and toasted coconut. Cover with top layer and carefully poke holes through both layers using the narrow end of a chop stick. Slowly spoon (or pour) the warm cream mixture into the holes and over the top layer. Be sure to do this very slowly, it will soak into both layers. Top with the remaining whipped cream, toasted coconut and fresh sliced strawberries. Garnish with berries around the edges of the plate. This is a great recipe, it's just the assembly and using coconut cream vs cream of coconut that needs tweaking.

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
The recipe states 40 SERVINGS, not squares. Thus, 9 X 9 = 81 one inch squares, two squares per serving....as shown in the photo. However you cut it, these are delish.

Brunch Omelet Torte

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
I serve this for Christmas brunch. I double the recipe; one pie I make according to the recipe and the other I substitute baby shrimp for the ham. Everyone loves it.

Breakfast Sausage Roll

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
I have made this for years, usually for special occasions, bc it does make quite a lot. Everyone LOVES it and it is a frequent request from my guests. I follow the recipe as written except for maybe a few extra veggies. I agree it may not be the healthiest recipe on this site but it is easily adaptable to lower fat versions.
