Fresh Mango Sorbet

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
Made this yesterday for the first time and it rocked. I did two things differently, one was to use all the mangos I had (about 5) and only 1/2 c sugar (we don't like the after taste of Splenda). Turned out very well. Needless to say it is gone. Will definately be doing this again and probably with other fruits too. Yum!!

Pear Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This recipe ROCKS!! My daughter loves pears and agreed to "sacrifice" her beloved pears for this coffee cake. She loves this and felt the sacrifice was well worth it. My co-workers say this is about the best thing I have shared with them. High praise since they all cook well.

Zucchini Cornbread Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
Have used this recipe twice now and both times it came out perfect. I used zucchini the first time and yellow squash the second (because that's what I had). I am not a fan of zucchini/squash, this is a way to use those veggies and have a great experience with the taste.

Nutty Wild Rice Salad with Kiwifruit and Red Grapes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This was disappointing. The only thing I did differently was cook the wild rice in water, not broth like the recipe instructed. I didnt think it would make that much of a difference. I wont be using this recipe again.

Sweet Potato Pie VII

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This pie was excellent! Easy to prep, mix-up and bake. I did change a couple of things just to suit our family. I cut the sugar to 1/4 c and added allspice, nutmeg and cloves about 1/4 t each. This pie turned out light in flavor and set perfectly (did not separate from the shell or turn watery). This was my first try at Sweet Potato Pie and I am very glad I selected this recipe. I do believe as others have said that the buttermilk makes the difference in the creamy texture. Will DEFINATELY be making this pie again.

Clare's Whole Wheat Potato Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
I thought this was a wonderful recipe. My daughter loves Potato Bread so I tried this for her. I did two things differently that absolutely do not take away from this receipe, it's just the ingredients I had. I keep yeast for bread making so did not use the individual packets and I used oil in my bread instead of margarine. I came up with two beautiful loaves of bread and I will use this recipe again. Just a BTW to Pam's review: I have learned that depending on the humidity, the amount of flour can vary even within any yeast bread recipe. Don't worry about it just keep a little extra flour out and available while you are putting this or any bread recipe together.

Zesty Pantry Potato Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
I tried this recipe yesterday. This did not turn out well at all, it may have been because I left out the TVP (I have a friend who won't eat soy). The carrots were only half cooked, but this wasn't all bad because I don't like mushy carrots anyway. I gave this recipe four stars because I think I messed this one up. The ingredients look so yummy together, but I will probably not try this again. Don't give up on this recipe because of my adjustment with the TVP.

Cream of Broccoli Soup V

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
This soup ROCKS!! I am not a fan Broccoli, but do like Broccoli Cheese Soup and this recipe is the Best! I had to use powdered milk instead of milk/cream that this recipe called for, but the taste was marvelous. I used a pressure cooker to soften the broccoli and continued as the directions indicated. I think I will double the recipe next time so I have some to put in the freezer.

Saucy Chops I

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
This is EXCELLENT!! I did add a little zip to my mine. I seasoned the chops with salt & red pepper before coating with flour. Once I removed the chops from the pan I added 2 cloves of crushed garlic. The soup/water consistancy was good, not too thin. We will have this again. I have a Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker so cooking time was only 15 minutes once all ingredients were returned to the pan.

Cranberry Apple Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
This was the first time I have cooked with whole cranberries and choosing this recipe was perfect. The only change I made was the previously suggested oats instead of bread crumbs and that made it ideal. I did everything else just as the recipe says and we love it!! I will definately be making this pie again very soon. I am on the lookout for cranberries on sale in my local gracery store. Kimm 12/22/07 I just finshed making this pie for the second time and have only adjusted the sugar down to 1 cup from 1.25 cups. I am using this pie to barter for tamales for Christmas dinner.

Irish Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: May 2, 2007
I love these cookies, thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I make it exactly the way the recipe instructs and they are always wonderful. I just have one observation. Generally ginger snaps have ginger and molassas in them. These are more the flavor, texture, look and taste of Snickerdoddles.

Turkey Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
This is the best turkey rice soup I have ever experienced. I have made it four or five times since I found the recipe back at Thanksgiving time and it has turned out exactly the same each time. I have shared this soup with friends and they love it. I can't say enough to explain the wonderful taste of this soup. I have even subsituted chicken and it still tastes great!! I love cooking from scratch and this is the most consistent recipe I have ever used. Do you get that this is WONDERFUL?? Give it a try you will not be disappointed!!
