I'm that chick who couldn't boil water without directions and that has left me feeling like a sub-par wife/mother, but this site has me branching out and trying new recipes (and more often then not successfully)!
My favorite things to cook
Easy and high rated recipes is what I generally stick with, but I have begun dipping my virtual toes into more complex recipes. This site is great and I always read the comments for tips and tricks.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I had/have great cooks in my family and my husband's family. It's intimidating to be a mediocre, at best, cook against them. But I'm learning on my own in an environment that doesn't feel competitive.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade meals!!! Little by little I'm leaving those boxed and frozen meals behind. With confidence I can whip up a loaf of bread, an apple pie, some great hot wings, and even a Thanksgiving turkey to be proud of!
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at gnocchi was pretty tragic! I didn't cook the potatoes all the way through and then tried to microwave them to fix it and ended up with rubbery potatoes. Convinced I could fix things I cut them up, put them in a mixer and redecorated my entire kitchen with potatoes!
