Pretzel Dogs

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
I was a pretzel virgin before making these and they turned out great! Like a previous reviewer I used my Kitchen Aid to mix up my dough and allowed it to rise for an hour before wrapping the dogs. Thanks for a great recipe What's for dinner, mom? we really ejnoyed these.

Sweet and Nutty Moroccan Couscous

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
I really like the idea of this but for my taste buds the amounts are a little off, I use more dried fruit and almonds and add nutmeg, cardamom and a few pinches of cloves.

Cardamom Chicken with Salt and Pepper Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
This chicken came out so delicious! The salt and pepper crust make this dish and the cardamom is quite subtle. I whirled together the marinade ingredients in my mini chopped and ended up letting the chicken sit in it for about 8 hours.

Spiced Carrot Strips

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
Nice and easy recipe. My husband is not a big fan of carrots but he liked this. I used more cinnamon than called for and added a pinch or two of nutmeg.

Peanut Clusters II

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
These are so easy and very tasty. The rice crispies become spongy though, next time I make them I will use more peanuts and less rice crispies to make them a little more crunchy. I highly recommend using salted roasted peanuts, the salty sweet combo is fantastic.

Bacon Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
The bacon made this chicken so moist! Next time I will add some onions and garlic to the cavity, otherwise it was great.

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I altered the liquids and cooking time in this to use brown rice. I took a previous reviewers advice and used chicken stock for cooking liquid. I've tasted a similar dish that I like a little better than this one but this is good. Healthy, hearty and simple, comfort food.

Sunday Morning Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
These were quite possibly the best pancakes I've ever eaten in my life, as a real lemon lover I upped the zest some and served with a dollop of lemon curd.

Butterkuchen

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
This is tasty and simple to make. A very good yeast first-timer recipe. It needed more spice in my opinion but was soft and delicious.

Chili Tuna Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
The only problem I felt these had was the need for a great deal more chili sauce, I added to taste. I also added shredded carrot and sesame seeds to mine.

Heart-Shaped Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
This is a very lovely cake, I made it once but couldn't figure out the shaping, I sort of winged it and then when it was in the oven it dawned on me how to do it the right way. I made it a second time a few days later and left out the nuts. I found that I prefered it without nuts. I used my Kitchen Aid to mix it and found that I needed about a cup and half of additional flour both times.

Spicy Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
As a lover of strong flavors I found this to be far too bland. It had a nice texture but needs some work.

Tricia's Fantastic Fudge Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
This is amazingly rich, it tastes like a gooey brownie in a pastry. If you're not a fan of chocolate steer clear of this.

I followed the recipe with one exception, I added cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves to taste. I topped this with apple butter and a dollop of vanilla yogurt and it was wonderful! My four young children all loved these.

Venison Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
This did not end up with enough fat content to taste like a traditional breakfast sausage. That being said it was pretty good and is a great idea, the spices need to be increased to taste, also I think a touch of brown sugar would be a nice addition.

Boiling Water Pastry

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
I popped this in the freezer for a half an hour then let sit at room temp for 5 minutes before rolling it out. It was beautiful to work with and came out light and flaky and perfect. I added a little sugar for personal tastes.
