I am a mother with four daughters who love to eat my cooking. Their ages are 22, 19, 17, and 11. The 21 year old still comes for dinner but now brings her roomates who really appreciate homecooked meals. Like everyone on here, I am a cooking fanatic and known in my community as a very experienced (and generous) cook. I cook sooooo much that every day I am giving things away. It is my therapy and I love seeing my skills and abilities constantly develope and improve! I have been lucky enough to work in catering and as a cook under some classically trained chefs who taught me so much. I am very greatful. I am just starting culinary school, I am very blessed to be able to do this.
My favorite things to cook
Whatever is new and different. I love a challenge.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to wake early saturday morning while the family is still asleep, wrap a snuggly robe around myself and head to the kitchen to prepare a big breakfast, knowing that the smell rising from the kitchen will have everyone (in their pajamas) in the kitchen soon. We can take our time with this huge meal and then enjoy a full day of activities together!
My cooking triumphs
Catering large parties on my own. Supervising other cooks in a cafe. Also, seeing people grab one of my desserts from a potluck...just because I was the person who made it.
My cooking tragedies
Once, when I was in a hurry to get cookies to a school play, I took off my apron and threw it on the counter island. When we got home the counter was burned along with a cookbook and my apron. I had forgotton to blow out a candle and I threw my apron directly on top of it. Luckily only about 5" of the counter was burned and the fire had mysteriously gone out on its own! Not sure this is actually a "cooking" tragedy...but it occured WHILE cooking and it was certainly a tragedy when my partner saw the counter!
