Refried Beans Without the Refry

Delicious but can be salty. I follow the recipe almost exactly. I chop onion, reduce salt to 3 teaspoons and cook it in a Dutch oven (so I reduce water accordingly). It's really good and freezes well. So it can be cooked well in advance.

Shepherd's Pie VI

I added a star for the idea, but, when I followed the recipe exactly, it was OK but too bland. I've made modifications to adjust is to my taste and found that it was MUCH better (for me) that way: 1)mashed potato doesn't need cheese + added oregano and roasted garlic instead of onion 2) replaced carrots with veggies that I like more (pees and broccoli) 3) added barbecue sauce to beef.

First time, I followed the recipe exactly and it was good but a little too sweet. Second, time I cut the white sugar completely and it was perfect. Definitely a keeper! I'll try making bacon separately next time, as one of the reviewers suggested

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

I really like this recipe. But made a few adjustments. I used Parmesan instead of Romano cheese. I melted butter and sauteed garlic and then stirred in potato. First time, I used the recommended amount of butter and it was too buttery for me. So I decreased the amount a little bit and added a little bit of milk. Turned out to be really good. This one is a keeper!

Chicken Marsala

Loved it! I tripled wine and sherry, used 1 lb of mushrooms and added the remaining flour mixture to sauce to thicken it. Ended up being delicious.

Blue Cheese Dip II

First time I followed the recipe exactly and thought that it was ok. Then I modified it: 1) cut the mayo and sour cream in half, 2) replaced garlic salt by garlic powder (remember, that blue cheese is very salty 3) added a lot of chopped fresh dill. With my modifications, it was the best dish on my holiday table.

Fish Tacos

First time I followed the recipe exactly and it was ok. I gave the version with my (easy) modifications 5 stars: don't deep fry the fish. Just fry it on the pan till it's ready. Only put 1/3 of a tea spoon of cayenne pepper. Also I replaced beer with chicken broth and plain yogurt with sour cream. It was very good

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

I am Russian and I loved this recipe. I've decided against adding half and half. Just added a spoon of sour cream to serve. Most Russians do this while eating soups. While the recipe is perfect as it is, I also added some egg noodles.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

After cooking it a few times, I've made these modifications: 1) roast the chicken myself (about 1 lb); 2) only used half of the cream cheese; 3) only used 1/3 of the pepper sauce. The original recipe is good, but with my modification it tasted even better.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

I've made it couple of times practically as it is and it's definitely a keeper. Only few adjustments: use only 1 egg/1 tbsp milk and half of bread crumbs. Also if my chops are really thick I bake them longer - about 40 minutes
