Honey Of An Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
This turned out perfect! I used whole wheat flour for bread machines and the bread was beautiful with just a hit of sweet and a just chewy enough crust. This was my first bread machine recipe and the first loaf I've ever made in a bread machine and I don't think I can buy store bread again!

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies II

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
Very good recipe! I previously made the version III and I do have to say that this version: using shortening and butter made them hold their shape a bit better and added a nice crispness around the edge. I only made a couple minor modifications. I added 1/2 tsp lemon extract..I felt it gave it a nice hint of added flavour. I also used chocolate chunks (Callabeaut) instead of chocolate chips, for a bit more white chocolate flavour. As well, I used dark brown sugar, while not specified..I love using dark brown sugar (not demerara) as it gives baking a nice rich flavour.

Steak Chili

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
Loved this! I omitted the beans, as I'm not a big fan of red kidney beans anyways..and pretty much made it an all meat chili. I used a jalapeno and about a half can of chipoltle peppers, VERY nice smokey flavour and a bit of spice but not too much. Yum!

Mexican Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
These were very yummy! I just served mine with salsa instead of making the tomato puree..it seemed like a lot of work for basically the same result. I also served with sour cream on top. The diced jalapeno gave it a nice kick. Very tasty!

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies III

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
These cookies taste good. I used celebaut chocolate which bakes up perfectly. I think this recipe could have used a bit more chocolate. I also used tablespoon fulls and flattened them a bit as I found they came out a bit cakey and puffy. I am not sure what makes a cakey cookie as opposed to a chewier cookie..but I think I would have preferred a bit of a chewier cookie. Also I think a dark brown sugar would have given a richer flavour. All in all, a good tasting cookie though, and I did omit the almond extract as it's not to my liking and just doubled the amount of vanilla.

Lemon Sugar Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
these are really nice tea cookies. i did add the zest of a lemon and about a TB or so of juice from a lemon as well as a bit of extract to punch up the lemon flavour. my cookies didn't turn out as flat as most of the photos...maybe cause i rolled them smaller? or maybe i had to flatten them. either way they still tasted delicious..i'm mailing some off today!

Penne with Garlicky Broccolini

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
This really was great! Super garlicky! I got rid of about half the bacon grease as it was quite a lot. I also added some cherry tomatoes as per some of the suggestions and some basil at the end. Zucchini and red pepper would probably be really nice too!

Dan's Favorite Chicken Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
The ranch dressing was fantastic with the bbq sauce. It was a super simple sandwich to make. I omitted the avacado as sometimes I have an adverse reaction to it but it was still perfect...my boyfriend thought he'd died and gone to heaven!
