Kid's Favorite Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2002
Neither of my two kids liked this at all. My husband and I didn't find this all that great either. Needs something.

Teriyaki Tofu with Pineapple

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2002
Sorry, but no one in the family liked this. Too much teriyaki sauce flavor.

Apple Crisp I

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2002
I thought this tasted really good! I only used 4 large apples and I had plenty..I used 3/4 cup of flour and 1/4 cup old fashioned oats. Mine didn't really have a "crust" per se, but there were bits and chunks of it which was very crispy and crunchy..loved it. The best part of it was that it was low-fat and healthy for you. I even left the skin on the apples for more nutrients and fiber. Next time I may use all 8 large apples, use a 9 x 13 pan and increase the topping by at least 1 1/2. A KEEPER!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2002
This is good bread, though I cut the sugar down to scant 1/2 cup, used the same amount of yeast but made one loaf at a time...I tried it the second time around with 1/2 cup old fashioned oats (and cut down on some of the flour), and this was good too. This recipe is a keeper.

Baked Mushroom Thighs

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2002
I thought it was okay, but husband really liked this, so I guess I will be making it again. Might be tasty (though more expensive) to try this with chicken breasts as well.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2002
This came out very good...I too added a package of brown gravy, did not prebrown the beef, and upped the beef broth to 2 1/2 cups...slow cooked it all day and made the house smell great. I like this recipe better than my original beef stew recipe, so my orginal recipe is going in the trash!

Corn Dog Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2002
This was very good! I didn't add the sage, and I used Healthy Choice hot dogs instead of vegetarian, but we really liked this. My 7 year old daughter who can be picky with her food, ate 2 servings of this!

Angela's Easy Breaded Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2002
Easy and quick! I used fat free italian dressing since that's what I had, and used plain breadcrumbs that I added my own seasonings to (seasoned salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese), and took the advice of another reviewer by putting the breadcrumbs in a bag and shook the pieces of chicken in it. Husband absolutely raved about this. The chicken was moist and tasty...it's amazing that it only takes 3 ingredients (plus seasonings)!!

Fudgy Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2002
I am always looking for low fat recipes to try and/or adapt. I tried to make this recipe even lower in fat by using just 1 1/2 tablespoons margarine (even though it recommends not to use for baking, I used "I can't believe it's not butter LIGHT"), and added two extra tablespoons of applesauce. I also added just a half cup of chocolate chips, and used milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet. I also didn't add the cinnamon or powdered sugar, and it still came out really tasty...A really good recipe!

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2002
This bread is outstanding. I've made it a few times now, and it has great taste and texture, not bland or heavy. I add approximately 1/4 cup extra honey. The last time I made it, I added 1/4 cup wheat germ, which turned out great too. Next time I make this, I am going to try replacing all the honey with maple syrup, to make Maple Wheat Bread! I think also some other additions such as oats, other flours such as rye or rice, and seeds such as sunflower, pumpkin, or sesame might be good to try too.

Very tasty chili...and I normally don't care for chili that much. My husband raves about this chili.

Classic Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2002
I thought this tasted okay, but my two daughters didn't care for it at all...they like the creamier "boxed" variety..and this wasn't that creamy at all. It was also little bland, but probably because I used mild cheddar (sharp is definitely prefered).

Sugar Cookies VII

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2002
I used 1/2 butter, 1/2 butter flavored Crisco shortning in the recipe, and refrigerated the dough for a couple of hours. I didn't roll them, but I put rounded pieces of dough onto cookie sheets and baked them. I had no problems with them spreading at all..chewy/crispy at the same time. The whole family loved them...couldn't stop eating them!

Barbequed Hamburgers

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2002
Quite tasty. It had a meatloaf like flavor, but the sauce was the key...very tangy sweet/sour flavor. I think I enjoyed it more than the family did!

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2002
I've made this 3 times so far. The first time, I had forgotten to buy the soy sauce so I used teriyaki sauce, which came out very good. I also used chicken drumsticks and thighs as well as some wings. Then the next time I made it, I used soy sauce, and the third time, a combination of soy sauce and teriyaki (I was low on soy again!). Everyone agreed that the first time I made it, with just teriyaki sauce was the best, so that will be the way I make it from now on.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2002
This will now be the only pumpkin pie recipe I will use. The filling was a lot thicker than some of the other recipes I've tried, which made it much easier to get it in the oven without making a mess. And it tasted great too.

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2001
I am not a pork fan, but my husband enjoyed these. I doubled the nuts, honey, and butter, but would problably not double the nuts next time, since it seemed like there was a lot of nuts...but my husband liked it anyway. I definitey recommend doubling the sauce. :)

Apple Pork Chops

I also made the same changes as JESSIE609, and my husband really loved this dish. I am not a pork fan myself. I will add more apples next time since he liked that the best.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2001
The family and I enjoyed this a lot, especially my youngest daughter, who actually ate 1 1/2 of these. We like this a lot better than the ones made with Hunt's or Manwich brand sloppy joe sauce.
