Brownie Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
I have used this recipe for years, it's foolproof and delicious. An added plus, it's quick and easy! This is the perfect frosting for Hershey's chocolate syrup brownies.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
My favorite. I love this recipe. The sour cream makes it so rich and creamy.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
I didn't think there was any other way to make a grilled cheese. I use English muffin toasting bread, lots of Velveeta, and dip them in ketchup. Serve with Campbell's tomato soup (made with milk, not water). My favorite Sunday night supper!

Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2010
OMG, I'm in love! This is absolutely decadant. I followed the recipe exactly. I might try cutting back a little on the powdered sugar next time, just for a trial. This is so delicious. How the heck can you go wrong with cream cheese and butter? Thanks for the recipe. Kaye

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

Reviewed: May 19, 2010
This is good. I followed the recipe, except did mine on top of the stove, simmered about 3 hours on lowest setting. The meat was so tender it fell apart and it tasted good. Not my favorite way to fix pork chops, but it was good.

Quick Pasta Carbonara

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
This is wonderful and very easy. I doubled the recipe using a pound of pasta. I actually tripled the parmesan to 1 1/2 cups. I didn't drain the bacon grease, my bacon was lean so I left it all. I added extra seasoning, like black pepper and a few drops of Lousiana hot sauce for flavor. I wasn't fond of the peas in this dish, next time I will add sliced mushrooms or maybe chicken instead.

Caramel Frosting V

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
This is absolutely delicious. I tossed in the butter and let it set till cool, then beat it with a nylon whisk. After beating awhile, I put it in the fridge for 1/2 hr to firm a little, then continued beating and frosted my apple spice cake. This is a perfect caramel frosting. It just takes patience and a little extra effort. It's well worth it.

Delmonico Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
Wonderful, I love it. One of my fave restaurants serves this as one of their potato choices. It works fine with frozen shredded hashbrowns or the ones from the refrigerator section. Less work and time. No need for layering this, I mix everything together, pour it in a baking dish, and stick it in the oven.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
Delicious! I increased the chicken broth (2-15 oz cans), and added extra milk and some half and half, no water. I added a chopped potato, cooked the chicken and veggies in the chicken broth, and left out the salt. The chicken broth had enough salt, no need for more. I mixed everything together, I had about twice the amount of filling the recipe gives. I made mine in a 9" round cake pan and it worked great. Used Pillsbury pie crusts.

Outstanding! I followed the recipe exactly (except left out the pecans). It's delicious, creamy and caramelly. Perfect as written. I used it on an apple spice cake. Everyone loved it. Thanks.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
Very, very good. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect, very dense and moist. I had to bake it about 70 minutes before the toothpick came out clean. It's delicious and looks picture perfect. Thanks!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
This is almost exactly how I have made my au gratins all my life. I agree with the previous comment, there is a difference between au gratin and scalloped potatoes. If there is cheese in them, they are au gratin, with plain white sauce they are scalloped. I use red potatoes, sometimes precooked first. I chop the onions small, and never layer, always mix the cheese sauce completely with the potatoes and onions before baking it.

Chocolate Brittle Surprise

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
This turned out perfect. My co-workers loved it. I used just one cup of mini chocolate chips and put the nuts on at the same time so when I spread the chocolate the nuts would stick. It worked great! PS: I used salted crackers.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
Mmm, delicious. I used about 10 oz of macaroni and 1/2 tsp dry mustard instead of dijon. I didn't use cheddar cheese, it doesn't melt well. Instead I used 1/2 velveeta and 1/2 American/jack blend and even threw a couple slices of provolone in the mix. I added a few drops of Louisiana hot sauce for flavor. Very, very rich and creamy. I didn't bother with bread crumbs.

Texas-Style Baked Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
Extremely excellent! Very hot/spicy and wonderful flavor. I used Louisianna hot sauce instead of Tabasco and baked mine in the oven instead of crock pot. I don't like crock pots much, everything comes out wet and floating in liquid. I put them in a big baking pan and baked them at 350º for about an hour. It worked great. I prefer baked beans to be thick, not swimming in juice. I used two 32 ounce cans of Van Camps regular pork and beans and drained the excess juice off the top of the cans. I used pork sausage instead of hamburger and it was so good. I cooked the onions with the sausage when I browned it. Fantastic baked beans!

Mom's Best Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
This is good but very sweet, even though I left out the sugar. I added some extra seasonings like garlic powder, salt & pepper, horseradish and a few drops of Louisiana hot sauce. I also added shredded cheddar cheese, a couple hard boiled eggs and I used extra pasta, there's a lot of sauce. I left out the carrots. It's quite good but I prefer the Amish Macaroni Salad recipe on this website.

Grandma Sal's Peach Kuchen

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
This is wonderful. I made a few changes: I put 1/2 cup sugar in the crust, the other 1/2 cup I mixed in the cream/egg mixture. I sprinkled a little sugar on the peaches as well. I used an extra egg yolk because my eggs were small. I made the mistake of baking mine for 40 minutes. Don't do it, the crust is too hard. The 30 minute option would have been perfect. Also, I sliced my peaches so they would cover the crust well. This is so good!

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
I've always made mac and cheese like this but with a few changes. No breadcrumbs. Use all the butter in the sauce and add extra cheese but I don't put any cheese on top. To the cheese sauce I add black pepper, dry mustard, a few drops of Louisianna hot sauce, and about 1/2 cup of sour cream.

Ham and Pineapple Pinwheels

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
These are delicious. There is no need to look for special cream cheese, I use an 8 oz block of regular cream cheese at room temperature so it will mix well with the pineapple. After you roll up the tortillas, refrigerate for an hour or two. This sets up firmer so your pinwheels won't get mushy and are easy to slice.

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
Oh my gosh, these are great. I used about 40 caramels, just because I had them. I left out the chocolate chips and used pecans instead of walnuts. I used a 9x9 pan and it was perfect. My co-workers flipped over these!
