Buffalo Cauliflower

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2015
We really enjoyed this recipe. I gave it 4 stars because there's an unnecessary step here. I added the hot sauce & honey to the batter (skipped the butter) and roasted the florets at 450 for about 13 minutes. Sheer greatness! The batter stuck to the pieces well and cooked up just right. Thank you!

Barbarella's German Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
These are just like the German pancakes I love order at IHOP! Great with fresh lemon juice squeezed over them, then dusted with powdered sugar. These are lot like thick crepes, so you might find it easier to cook them that way. Pour some batter in a small, oiled skillet & swirl the batter to evenly coat the pan. The edges will appear dry & slightly browned when it's time to filp them. You can alternate between 2 heated skillets to make it move along faster, too.

Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2014
I made this for breakfast this morning and it was really, really good. We have been trying to cut back on our sugar intake, and I should've cut the brown sugar down in this recipe. It was really sweet - so sweet that next time I will HALF the brown sugar in the batter. I will be making this again!

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2014
These were easy and oh, so good! I added the yeast to the sugar & warm water to let it bloom before adding it to the other ingredients, then I used my KitchenAid mixer with the dough hook and set it on medium for 5 minutes. I just left it in the bowl & covered it for 30 min to rise. It was very sticky, as others said, but I just spooned it into the muffin tin & let it rise another 15 min. I will definitely be making these again and again!

Chicken Dorito® Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
I made this in lieu of the usual King Ranch Casserole the other night and it was a nice change. Everyone really liked it and the Doritos gave it another dimension in flavor. Definitely a keeper!

Double Chocolate Brownie Cake

Excellent cake! I originally made this for a social at work, but after my sons tasted it, they requested it for their special birthday cakes! So easy, moist, and chocolately. Definitely a keeper to make again & again!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2015
I just made these for my mother in law and they are wonderful. I took the advice of others and used fresh squeezed orange juice in place of the water. I also increased the ginger to a full tablespoon (she loves ginger) and used 1/3c sugar and 1/3c stevia to cut back a bit (she's pre-diabetic) and they are still plenty sweet. I had no problem rolling them into balls and I did roll them in sugar & flatten them a bit. 10 minutes was perfect. Very good cookie!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2014
This sauce is excellent! I took the advice of others and doubled the amount & it was probably my best attempt at homemade sauce. I dredged my chicken in a mixture of flour, corn starch, & a pinch of Chinese 5-spice and cooked till crispy. I threw red & yellow pepper and broccoli on top and covered it long enough to steam the veggies before stirring in the sauce. Wonderful & easy.... What's not to love?

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
I'm not a huge fan of scones and neither is my hubby, but this recipe was so highly rated, I decided to give it a try. Guess what!?! Now we are fans! These are really good. Not dry like so many. I took others advice and added orange extract, orange zest, and dried cranberries and they were very good. I will definitely continue to make these.

Chocolate Meringue Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
Other than the fact that I over beat my egg whites and basically turned them into frothy soup, these are very good! My husband has dubbed them 'the cotton candy of cookies'. I did put in a little extra cocoa, based on the recommendation of others, and I used mini chocolate chips. In spite of the cookies being generally pretty flat, they are very tasty and quite addictive. I will try this again!

Amish Cinnamon Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
I had lost my recipe and was glad to locate it again here. There are so many variations to this bread based on what flavor pudding mix you use. The trick here is... Are you ready? FREEZE your starter in small freezer bags in 1 cup portions - just remove a bag from the freezer & allow it to come to room temperature prior to use. Just be sure to perpetuate another set of starters before you use the last one!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
I am not really a fan of apple pie, but I made this (with no modifications except for using a mix of apples) for a 4th of July family cookout (what's more American than Apple Pie?) and it was really good! I used a deep dish frozen pie crust (brushed with milk as advised), and roll-up refrigerated crust for my lattice. Everyone loved it and it looked absolutely amazing... So amazing that I took pictures & sent them to my friends! Thanks Grandma Ople!

German Sweet Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2012
I only gave 4 stars because I didn't follow the recipe exactly. I made some changes based on what I had on hand & it turned out great! I didn't have German chocolate, so I used Andes chocolate mint pieces and a touch of peppermint extract. I crushed some Girl Scout thin mint cookies and stirred them into the cream cheese mixture. It was truly delicious, creamy, and refreshing on a hot Texas summer night.

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2012
Awesome and so easy! I just made 2 batches to take to my college age sons & I can't keep my husband out of them. I made 1 batch with white cake mix, a touch of almond extract, & chocolate chips and 1 batch with fudge cake mix and walnuts. Wonderful, soft, & chewy.

Coconut Tilapia with Apricot Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
This was awesome! I was looking for something different to do with my fish & luckily I found this recipe. I pulsed the coconut mixture in my food processor & that gave it the perfect consistency. I baked the fish at 350 for about 15-20min & it was crispy perfect. I also used the coconut to coat some zucchini, the fried it in olive oil. Yummy! I'll definitely use this recipe again.

This was the best meatloaf I have ever made. Even the son who doesn't really like meatloaf went back for seconds - there were NO leftovers. This is definitely a keeper! Thanks.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2015
All I can say is... Wow. I've never been a huge lemon pie fan, but for some reason I have been on a lemon kick lately so I decided to try this and I was so happy I did! We are watching our sugar intake, so I reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup plus about 1/4 cup of Stevia and it worked out great. The merengue came out perfect as well -- I was proud of myself! Thanks for a great recipe.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2015
Very good! I followed the recipe (low heat and freezer time) and the cake is very moist with a terrific banana flavor. I halved the recipe to make an 8 x 8 cake and used 1/2 sugar and 1/2 Stevia. I will make this again
