Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2015
100% perfect recipe. I made this exactly as written and it could not have been any better. (actually, I omitted the nuts, sorry) Just the right moistness and even crumb. I have been searching for the right recipe for years and this is it. I made it into cupcakes and it made 23. I will recommend this to everyone.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
This is the only pizza crust recipe I use. I took the advise of another reviewer to include some garlic and onion powders and WOW, it is almost like P___a H_t. : ) Any left over dough I roll into a teeny loaf and bake as a breadstick.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
This is a great granola bar recipe. I only find it too sweet, so I reduced the brown sugar and honey by half and omitted the raisins. It does make thin bars, so since I like them thicker I either double the recipe or make it in a half size pan. The recipe is also a great base recipe to include add ins like coconut, nuts, and chocolate chips. I have not tried the chocolate chips yet, but I could have chocolate in anything.

Cindy's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
"This is the best coleslaw I every tasted" says my hubby when ever I make it. So, what else can I say. Very easy to make and stores very well in the fridge separately from the grated slaw. I make the recipe exactly as written and would not change a thing.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
The only banana bread recipe I will ever use. I have been using it for years and have come to use all whole wheat flour in place of all purpose. I also have included some flax for part of the flour. Walnuts also go really well with the banana flavor. Don't be afraid to use slightly more banana either, it still rises well. The recipe as written with no substitutions is very moist and also converts well to muffins.

Alan's Ultimate Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
I have been making this recipe for a couple of years and I follow all of it other than the barley malt flour (don't have it) and don't like raisins in the muffins, plus I reduce the honey by half. They are sweet enough with that amount for me. Usually I include 1/2 cup coconut and 1/2 cup walnuts in it for extra texture and flavor. They are very moist and will not venture to use any other bran muffin recipe. The last time I also included 1 tsp of cinnamon, very good. They are called "Super fibre bombs" in our household.

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
Have made this recipe many times and everyone loves it. I also used fresh peaches instead of the berries and it comes out just as wonderful. Very easy to make and best if still warm. The only thing I do different is that I do not make the bottom crust and just put all the crumble on top.

Chocolate Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2012
Great recipe. I excluded the milk and the cinnamon, just treated it like a regular cream cheese frosting. Creamed the butter and the cream cheese first to get it fully mixed and then added the vanilla. I alternated the icing sugar and the cocoa until the cocoa was used up and then put in enough icing sugar to my taste. I also added 3 ounces of melted semi-sweet chocolate in the double recipe I made. Will use this over and over again. Yummy, yummy, yummy. Could eat this by itself out of the bowl.

Oatmeal-Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Great recipe. I like the dense, chewy texture of the muffin. I did not have buttermilk but used sour milk by putting a couple of tablespoons of vinegar into a measuring cup and topping it off by adding milk to make 1 cup, and then letting it sit for 5 minutes. I also reduced brown sugar to 1/4 cup. I will plan on adding a little oat bran to the recipe next time in place of some flour.
