About this Cook
My mother has always baked from scratch and taught me the basics. I love to eat good food so my interest in cooking blossomed. My mom says I am a better cook than her!
My favorite things to cook
Desserts! Cakes, pies, cookies; breads and pasta. I let my husband do the grilling, though.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cinnamon rolls and Thanksgiving dinner.
My cooking triumphs
Recipes I have duplicated from restaurants.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, let's not go there, ok? ;)

Zucchini Quiche
I loved the flavor of this recipe, but I would like it better if it was like a traditional quiche. Like another reviewer stated, it is like zucchini stuck in bread.

Navy Bean Soup I
Good recipe, but make sure your beans are fresh! I made the mistake of grabbing a bag of beans from the back of my cupboard. Stale beans will never soften no matter how long you cook them. I ate it even though the beans were dry and the skins were tough, but my husband and daughter had chicken nuggets. I'll have to try again after I've given my husband enough time to forget about this mishap. I gave it 4 stars because of what it could have been =(

Creamy Rice Pudding
I've made this twice. I made it the first time exactly as written (well I did add some cinnamon and almond extract). The second time I made rice for dinner using 2 cups of rice instead of one. Whatever was leftover I used for the rice pudding. There was more rice than the recipe calls for, but all it needed was a bit more sugar. I used medium grain (Calrose) rice and that makes it so creamy and yummy! If you add some of the hot rice mixture to the egg and milk before mixing it into the pot you won't get scrambled eggs in your rice pudding.
