Creamy Dill Cucumber Toasties

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
I've made these about 10 times since I saved the recipe, and its the most requested recipe I ever get. Theres never any leftovers! However, I always double the recipe, and even then I don't use the entire .7 ounce package of dry italian seasoning, if so the flavor is way too strong! I can't imagine using the whole thing with only 1 block of cream cheese. I also add garlic and onion powder to the mix, and sprinkle a little paprika on top when they are done. Awesome!! =)

Tortilla Rollups II

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
I have to say, almost the entire plate of these were left over after my party. Something about the flavor seemed very off, it was so tangy and "chemical" tasting. There are far better recipes of this type out there.

Cocktail Meatballs

Pretty good, but typical cocktail meatball recipe. I'll keep it for last minute recipe requests, but will look for another one to really impress party guests =)

Potatoes Romanoff

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
Great. I used lots of garlic flavoring in this, and used reduced fat four cream to cut down on the fat a little.. sprinkled a little bacon bits on top before baking..and these were awesome comfort food potatoes..will definately make again =)

Mom's Best Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
I have to say I didn't love these. I added the spices (and some additional ones not called for in the recipe like paprika/weber grill seasoning/and coriander) to the crackers instead of the egg mixture to make the flavors stick a little better (per other reviewers suggestions) but the taste was not outstanding, and still sort of bland in my opinion. I got the pan and oil super hot before frying, but when they came out of the oven they were still soggy. I dont love pork to begin with, so maybe this isn't a valid review, but I wouldn't make this again.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
Made this icing to go on the recipe on here called "the best rolled sugar cookies" for christmas this year... the plate was cleared in no time.. and I can't tell you how many compliments I got on the flavor of the icing- I also thought it was better and "lighter" tasting than any other cut out cookie glaze i've tried. A keeper!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
I will never ever buy canned manwich again. This stuff is awesome- and so easy. Definately even better on second day leftovers- after the flavors had longer to sit. -UPDATE-have made these 2 more times since the first time I made them, and felt I had to write another review because these are so amazing, and a true comfort food. I used spicy dijon mustard, and doubled the sauce, and trippled the amount of onions, and it was just great. Everyone raved about them! =)

Chocolate Martini a la Laren

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Oh my gosh.. its not often i've had a seriously terrible drink.. but this one is just that in my honest opinion. I'm not a huge fan of martini's anyways, but i figured a chocolate one might be decadent and delicious...all you could taste was strong liquor- almost overpowering. i used vanilla vodka for extra flavoring, choc syrup lined in the glass and a shot of half and half per suggestion of other reviewers, thinking this would calm down the heavy liquor taste. no way. I won't be making, or experimenting with this recipe again.

Oh well.. try it and love it. =)

French Onion Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
Im not a fan of french onion soup.. but I'm starting culinary school really soon and I want to try all different things, just to gain more knowledge. Even though i don't like it, it was pretty tasty- and my fiance whos a big fan said it tasted better than any he'd ever had. I didnt have big enough individual ramekins, so i took a chunk of italian bread and topped it with swiss and provolone and put in toaster oven for a few min to melt- then put on top of soup...sure looks pretty too! I'd make this again for a crowd, if they like this type of soup.

Absolutely the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2010
These are awesome. SO much more flavorful than your typical chocolate chip cookie base (with butter etc.) I've made these countless times, and end up calling them my garbage dump cookies because every time I add pecans, walnuts, white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, a splash of honey and maple syrup, and a few rolled oats. People are ALWAYS begging me for the recipe and asking me "can you please make more of those garbage dump cookies?" =)

Cordon Bleu Chicken Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
I have to say using the thyme made the chicken have excellent flavor, and all in all this was an ok dish. I found it extremely hard to pound out chicken breasts that thin, and then rolling everything up to be even more of a challenge. Even after using toothpicks to secure the sides and hold everything together, the presentation was pretty awful, and the insides still oozed out. I used provolone cheese(do not like swiss) and only italian bread crumbs and butter for the coating (which turned out very soggy and mushy-even after the recipe took 20 minutes longer than stated in the directions) I thought it would be sort of crispy. The over all flavor of the chicken and ingredients was pretty good, but the time consuming prep and ugly presentation is a deal breaker for me. =(

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2010
These were pretty good. I used real onion instead of minced and put lots of garlic in the beef mixture. Baked these in the oven at 350 for about an hour and ten minutes. Sauce was sweet and a little tangy....filling was great. I would make these again =)

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
Wow! this stuff is addicting. I too used pumpkin pie seasoning and added extra cinnmon on top of that. The consistency wasn't great just mixing with a spoon-even after using room temp butter, but the electric mixer made this light and fluffy and delicious! So far we've put this on dinner rolls, bagels, biscuits, cinnamon raisin bread, and banana bread. Whoever came up with this recipe should seriously be rewarded =)

Baked Pork Chimichangas

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
my excitement about making this did not live up to the actual outcome. I followed recipe exactly( only adding a little chopped garlic) and I felt the filling was really bland and didn't have a "chimichanga" feel to it. I used bigger tortillas (8 inch) and the filling was still falling out in the pan. The recipe is rather time consuming but it does make a large batch- I have a huge bowl of the filling left over.

No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I was not impressed. The middle chocolate layer tasted great, but since this dish isn't baked the oaks took on a dry, raw flavor- sort of like raw uncooked flour. Definately fast an easy, just not 5 star quality.

Cajun Seafood Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
This was pretty good. Definately not a "seafood alfredo" type dish.. it was more just a spicy sauce to go over the pasta. I left out the white pepper (after reading the other reviews) and used alot of mozz/parm cheese and a little nutmeg in the sauce. Its pretty good.. just very hot! We thought it was a little too cajun for a pasta dish. I'll try this again and maybe leave out the cajun seasoning and try to make a creamier more alfredo style version of this.
