Cheese's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
In my opinion, it was terrible. This doesn't happen too often in my experiences at Allrecipes.com. I followed the recipe exactly and everything about it was wrong, I wouldn't even call this mac and cheese. Just a cheap quick sauce with some cheddar thrown in, no flavor whatsoever. I even used real sharp cheddar in block form that I shredded myself (the expensive kind.) Kielbasa deserves better. Won't be making again

Spinach Dip I

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2013
This was ok, your typical party style spinach dip. Had a sort of fake chemical taste to it if that makes any sense. I think there are probly far better recipes of this type out there.

Barbeque Style Braised Short Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
I thought this was great. Reminded me of good ol home cookin, really rich and hearty in flavor. Awesome with mashed potatoes. My husband wasn't a fan, but he'll eat anything except pot roast ( and this was very much reminiscent of pot roast so I guess thats why.) I used 3.5 lbs country stlye short ribs and kept the rest of the ingredients the same. Seared/browned the ribs on all sides, then threw in the crockpot on low for about 7 hours. I'd make again!!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
Really left something to be desired. I wasn't crazy about this at all, neither was my husband. Followed the recipe exactly, minus the butter in the beginning because I couldn't justify adding all that unneccesary fat. Served over brown rice..and it was just bland. We were picking the sausage out and leaving the rest. Not making it into my recipe binder unfortunately! =(

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
Wow. These are amazing. I didn't use the frosting called for here because I have my own chocolate glaze recipe I use time and time again without fail for lots of things, but I did use the brownie recipe exactly as written here. I doubled it in a 9X13 and baked for exactly 25 minutes. Outside was slightly crisp and inside was soft and chewy. I did also add walnuts. I'm keeping the recipe for anytime I want to make brownies, in my opinion no other I've tried comes as close to perfect as this one.

Nanna's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
Really happy with how this came out. Moist and flavorful. I used 3 over ripe bananas instead of 2 and added a little nutmeg. I still wish there was a way to make sure the outside doesnt cook faster and get crusty..cuz I'm one of the ones that hates the crust on the bread! But all in all it was fantastic.

Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
I wanted to love this, but it fell short. I didn't make the cornbeef from scratch, however I did get a quality brand of cornbeef from the deli counter shredded up, and used real cheese, none of that processed pre packaged stuff. It was just bland, and dried up in the crockpot after an hour,(leaving it on warm) It didn't taste like a reuben at all, I just wasn't impressed. =(

Mom's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
I'll admit i am fussy when it comes to coleslaw. I dont like it soupy and i dont like it too dry (meaning not enough sauce) Some can be too tangy and some can be too bland. This was the PERFECT blend of flavors in my opinion, it did get a little soupy over time hanging out in the fridge, but it was ok. I did use pre packaged slaw mix for ease, but the the only thing I did different with the recipe was add about a teaspoon of dill, I love the flavor or dill in coleslaw. Made this about 6 times already and couldn't be more please that I found this recipe. Thanks

Corn, Sausage and Pepper Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Pretty good. I'm not a big fan of soup- but I do love sausage. This was hearty and a good meal for the colder days. Husband loved it! Will keep in my recipe book.

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Not impressed. I guess I was expecting a little more of a creamy stlye alfredo like sauce.. but it was thin and watery and didn't have much flavor. I'll keep searching for a better recipe.

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Just awesome. Made as a side dish to go with grilled pork chops and parmesan risotto. Took a little longer to cook and for apples to tenderize than the recipe stated.. but man was it delicious. Added a little vanilla extract. Will definately consider using this as an ice cream/pancake/waffle topping in the future. Loved it!!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Wow! Prep couldn't have been easier. I took the suggestion of other reviewers and used beef broth instead of water.. used chuck roast instead (3.5 lbs was all I could find) and used the exact amount of spices called for in the recipe- this was company worthy- and in my opinion tasted better than any italian beef I've ever had. Can't wait to make again!

Parmesan-Black Pepper Arborio Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
I have to say.. much easier than regular risotto- did take a little longer to cook than stated in the recipe- but the taste was awesome!! Real parmesan makes all the difference. I'll definately make this again.

Mexican Style Shredded Pork

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
I was quite disappointed given some of the great reviews here. I followed the recipe exactly and even threw in some chopped onion and southwest chipotle seasoning for extra flavor. We had it in tacos with tomato cilantro and cheese garnish. It was extremely bland and lacking flavor. I was surprised even after using the entire bottle of chipotle sauce. I won't make this again.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2011
This was pretty good, and easy. An obviously healthier alternative to pulled pork. But I did find that just the chicken on a sandwich was rather boring- it sort of needs to be spiced up maybe with a slice of cheese or cole slaw- or lettuce and tomato. Very easy and waiting when you get home after a long day, so I'll definately keep the recipe for when I'm in a time crunch. Thanks!

Lemon Icebox Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
I took the initiative to make this slightly more healthy so as not to feel so guilty indulging. I'm so glad I did because this is amazing! I made my own graham cracker crust- 1 package reduced fat graham crackers, 1 packet of truvia no calorie sweetener and 2 tbls melted butter- baked in the oven for about 10 minutes. Then for filling I used one fat free cream cheese and one regular, 1 packet of truvia no cal sweetener, fat free sweetended condensed milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and the zest and juice of only 1 lemon. Creamy light and delicious- in my opinion the perfect summer desert- especially for cheesecake lovers! i'll keep this is a desert staple in my cookbook for sure.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

This was pretty great cornbread. Moist and flavorful, but not too incredibly sweet. It was very cake like- which isn't bad. I'd definately make it again.

Cherry Crisp

If you love cherry anything, you'll love this. Although its such a simple recipe, it never gets old, and its so good! Sweet and tarte with the nutty topping.. spoon some of this stuff piping hot over french vanilla ice cream- its absolutely heavenly.
