Bill Clinton's Lemon Chess Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Very lemony pie. I made it for Thanksgiving, and it was the first dessert to go. Be careful of the cooking time. My pie was still jiggly at 40 minutes, so I left it for 4 more minutes. It was over baked and cracked deeply when it cooled. Still great, though.

BUSH'S® Best Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I take this dish to most potlucks; it's easy and delicous. Red and yellow peppers can be pricey, so sometimes I substitute green pepper and fresh roma tomato. Tasty.

Carrot Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
Surprisingly, this dish was a little bland. I added an additional teapoon of ginger and a teaspoon of nutmeg, and it was much tastier.

Naan

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
This is the best naan I've eaten. We recently made it for a family get together, and everyone loved it. The minced garlic adds just the right flavor; I highly recommend including it.

Lemon Sponge Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I made this according to the recipe, and it turned out mushy and soggy. The texture was a turn off. It is cool the way the layers separated, though.

Delish! With so few ingredients, it's important to use real butter and fresh lemons.

I really like swiss chard, and this is a good dish. The balsamic vinegar gives it a distinctive flavor.

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I don't think this is actually the world's best potato salad, but it's very good. I'll make it again.

Lime Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
This a very tasty dish, and my family often requests it. I don't add the whipping cream-- too much fat. It's just fine without it-- maybe a little tangier.

Strawberry Cream Roll

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
This is a tasty and pretty dessert. I use evaporated milk instead of whipping cream to reduce the fat, and the difference in flavor is minor. I've also added a small layer of strawberry jam before the rest of the filling, and it gives it shows up well in the cut roll-- makes it a little sweeter, though.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
Delicious lemonade. Making simple syrup keeps the sugar dissolved. Use fresh lemons (not bottled) for the best taste. I only use 1 1/2 cups of sugar. I like my lemonade to be extra tart!

T's Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
I made these a couple of times and just couldn't get any crunch to them. I tried microwaving them at 3 then 4 minutes. I baked them at 400, then at 450 and broiled them after for a minute. The were soggy no matter what I tried. Tasty but soggy.

I was a little nervous that this would be too garlicky, but it was just great. I will make this again.

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
Family members who don't usually care for cranberries have had second helpings of this dish. I've made this as per the recipe, and it is great. The second time I made it, I added finely zested orange peel and substituted 1 teaspoon of Chinese 5-spice (cinnamon, cloves, anise, ginger, pepper) for the cinnamon. Both added interesting flavors.

Very tasty and very simple to make. It tastes like it's much more complicated than it is. My favorite salsa for this recipe is peach chapotle.
