After reading another bloggers story concerning  “Sunday Dinners” I began thinking back to memories of my childhood.  My parents divorced when I was 2 years old.  I don’t remember them being together so the divorce didn’t immediately have an effect on me.   As the years… MORE

About this Cook
I am a happily married stay at home mom. I love spending time with my husband whether it is just staying at home watching movies or going out shopping. I love to cook and try new recipes. My husband is a very picky eater and he doesn't eat much of a variety. I mainly cook for myself since my daughter is less than a year old so I enjoy making recipes that are small so there is not much waste.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake cookies, cakes and other sweet treats but I try to avoid making too many because I want to eat too much of them! :) I am also an avid bread maker and enjoy trying out new bread recipes. I also love tex-mex and italian recipes. Lately I have been experimenting with new seasonings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite memories are those of baking around the holidays when I was a child. My grandmother would always make the best pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My mother made the best Turkey and Dressing and Scallopped Potatoes that are to die for. I still enjoy cooking around the holidays. I can't wait until my little one(s) are old enough to help me in the kitchen and start our own family traditions.
My cooking triumphs
Everytime I make a recipe that turns out great I consider that a triumph. So I have many triumphs in the kitchen.
My cooking tragedies
Recently it was cooking a hamburger and it looked perfectly done on the outside but was raw inside. Yuck!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
The BEST pancake recipe I have ever tried! I subbed 1/2 c cake flour for the all purpose. I reduced the salt to 3/4t instead of a whole teaspoon. I sifted the dry ingredients together. Mixed all the wet ingredients and added 2 t of vanilla bean paste. They were a beautiful golden brown color and had the best flavor. Amazing recipe and the holy grail pancake recipe for me!

Carrot Souffle
Tastes just like the one served at the big cafeteria restaurant. Sift some powdered sugar on top and you have a near perfect clone!

Country Pound Cake
Love the texture of this pound cake. I added 1/4 cup of King Arthur Cake Enhancer to the batter. I made a 1/2 recipe in a loaf pan. Crust was perfect and the inside moist. Reminded me of Sara Lee. Next time I will use all vanilla instead of adding the lemon flavoring due to personal preference.
