About this Cook
I went to school for Hospitality Management(USC). As part of my curriculum, I took 4 years of cooking classes and ran a restaurant on campus.
My favorite things to cook
I do not eat red meat or pork, but my son & husband do. We tend to eat a lot of vegetables, soups, chicken and pasta dishes. I love Italian, Mexican, and Asian foods. Baking is not my forte.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have so many! I love cooking for my friends and family throughout the year, but especially during the holidays when I take the extra time to make more time consuming dishes. I rarely bake except for these times, so making cakes & cookies and decorating them is a lot of fun!
My cooking triumphs
I have cooked for 2 and for 500. It's always a triumph to see a smile on someone's face after you have nourished their body & soul. Food is a requirement for life, but also a social and enjoyable way to bring people together.
My cooking tragedies
I am a terrible baker. I've destroyed souffles, pies, tarts, you name it. I also burn the bread every time I broil it. I have also undercooked a pork chop or 2. Bluck!!

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie
Made this yesterday. It's delicious! It is really "crustless", so if you want, pour into a crust then bake. We thought it would work well with cherries too.

Chai Tea Mix
Very good recipe! Don't skimp out and omit the Cardamom! It's the basis for this flavorful beverage. If you don't have it, buy it- or make a different kind of tea! I made this recipe as written with the exception of adding a little more of each spice and a few dashes of Allspice. Yumm, thank you!

Bourbon Slush
My Dad makes this every year for Thanksgiving. Here is his recipe that has been tested to the MAX.: 12oz can OJ (not diluted) 12oz can Lemonade (not diluted) 1 cup sugar 2 1/2 cups Bourbon (we use a well) 2 cups tea (4 teabags + 2 ups boiling water) Mix together & freeze in rectangle shaped tupperware for at least 24 hrs. Scoop out into glasses & top with Champagne (my fav.) or Gingerale/Sprite/7-up/Clubsoda/Tonic We triple this recipe and never have enough!
