Lentil and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
This soup was amazing! The only changes I made were chopped carrots instead of shredded, 6 cups water, spicy sausage, and no pasta or thyme. I also only cooked it for an hour which is all it took to get the lentils soft. It was sooo tasty and spicy! My husband loved it and so did my two year old. I froze a container for my parents and my mom is asking for the recipe. This is the best soup I've probably ever had!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
okay this was my first time making a pie and i followed everything exactly and it was incredibly sweet... way too sweet for my family so we ended up just picking off some of the buttery crust and eating that then throwing most of it away after it sat there for a few days. i can tell that this recipe has a lot of potential because from what i tasted, it was delicious just wayy too sweet. i want to try again in a couple weeks using different apples and less sugar maybe? i don't know but i will come back and review again with hopefully 5 stars!!!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
this was so amazing. i brought it for thanksgiving and it was just delicious, i ended up just using a premade grahm cracker crust and the pumpkin pie mix because cloves were expensive and i'd probably never use them again. it was incredible, it tasted better than my aunts pumpkin cheesecake, it was more cheesecakey in my opinion with a pumpkin undertone. ughhh to die for.

Cuban Ropa Vieja

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
I was so excited for this recipe. I'm puerto rican and make mostly puerto rican food and i found this and thought i'd try something different. it sounded amazing and the pictures people took of it looked so tasty. I added 6 cloves of garlic because I'm big on garlic, and i added a little more cumin that it said to along with adobo and a packet of sazon. an hour before it was supposed to be done, i tasted it and it was very bland and just tasted like tomato so i added more adoboe and stirred. my husband came home and said how good the house smelled and we were excited. we made rice and beans and shredded it and served. i guess i don't like cumin? i don't know.. it was bland and the only flavor you got was cumin and tomato. i gave it two stars because the meat was very tender but that's the only plus about it. i guess i'm not big on cuban food, i'm glad i tried something new though, thanks.

Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
this was very tasty, made it last night although i made some changes. i cubed the chicken in the morning and seasoned it with adobo, garlic powder and oregano then left it in the fridge. i used 2 garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon garlic powder also a little extra oregano and i salted the veggies before adding the sauce too. when i first tasted it, i was a little disappointed but i had it left over and it was AMAZING. my husband even took it to work for lunch. it was a littel chunky and oily, next time i'll maybe used diced tomatoes? and olive oil instead of veg... thanks for the recipe.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
This chili was SO EASY to make. I am a new cook and it was so simple but packed with flavor. I only used a quarter of an onion but a little more garlic than called for. I served it over white rice. I used pace medium salsa and McCormick hot and spicy seasoning. also only used one can of beans... very yummy and i was concerned about it because it made my stomach hurt but my husband came home and said "this looks like a winner" when he smelled it and stirred it. Anyway- i served him and he goes "that's wayyy too much!" and at the end, the plate was completely bare lol. he loved it. thanks for the recipe, will do again but with normal seasoning not hot n spicy because it made my stomach hurt.

Broccoli and Cheddar Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
This was SO easy to make! I only used like a quarter of an onion just because I hate cutting onions and I used more garlic powder than it called for. Also towards the end of cooking, I stirred in some Tabasco sauce. I thought it was REALLY good except that cheese you use matters because I used cheap cheese and I could taste it... I bet it would be amazing with better cheese.

Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
so simple to make! i added garlic powder into the parmesan cheese, just a tad so when i mixed all of the ingredients together, it was pretty garlicky, the way i like it. but even before i did that, it had a subtle garlic taste that was enjoyable just from adding the garlic to the boiling potatoes. i only gave it four stars because i felt it needed to be more moist, maybe more butter? don't know but the flavor was great! thanks!
