Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2014
After reading reviews, I decided to make this recipe, although I was concerned about some of the reviews that called this bland. HARDLY! The flavor is complex and delicious! Because I was worried about the bland factor, I made only a few small changes - 1)I used a combination of chipotle chili powder, ancho chili powder and regular chili powder. 2) I used one chili pepper and one jalapeno pepper. 3)Used a whole bottle of beer. 4) Used one can of chili beans in mild sauce and one in hot sauce and didn't add any more (my family's not too big on beans). Amazing!! And worth the effort!

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
Excellent recipe! Prebake the squash and 1/2 the cream cheese though. I also tried another suggestion which was to add a few tablespoons of balsamic vinegar when blending the cream cheese. It was delicious and definately gave the soup a different flavor. I asked my guests to taste test it with and without the vinegar and they chose with!

Spicy African Yam Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
I have been making this soup regularly for almost a year now. This soup has a great blend of flavors, all of which come through individually. I make no modifications at all except to use a corn and black bean salsa and add a little cayenne pepper for some zing. Wonderful, healthy soup my entire family loves!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
This soup was amazing and a huge hit with my kids and husband. Stayed true to the recipe except I followed another reviewer's advice and did a 50/50 combination of cream and coconut milk (I had some handy). It was spectacular!! Double or triple the recipe - you won't be sorry.

Made these for dinner tonight and my family loved them. Only change was to add extra taco sauce and add some chopped lettuce and tomato on top. Delicious.

These cookies are always wonderful. Always requested by friends and family for parties, holidays, etc.... Only change I make is to use butter instead of shortening.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
Have made this shrimp recipe numerous times for dinner parties, usually as appetizers, and always get rave reviews from guests. I follow the recipe as is, except I usually add just a touch of cayenne pepper for our guests who like their food with a little "heat." Great, great recipe!

White Peach Sangria

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
I have been making this sangria for the past two summers and have given out this recipe so many times, I can't count. The only alteration I make is to add cut up apples, which are usually the favorite fruit in it. The apples add a good flavor with the wine, soak up the alcohol and taste delicious!
