Ground Beef Shepherd's Pie
This is a good shepherd's pie and very easy to adjust to personal tastes. After reading various reviews, I adjusted as follows: omitted basil and tomatoes, added finely chopped celery, carrots, few dashes of Worcestershire to my meat mixture. Dusted w/ 3 Tbsp flour and added beef broth for a gravy. To the potatoes I added prepared horseradish to taste and used a cheddar w/ black pepper cheese (cracker barrel), dash of milk and 2 Tbsp butter. Omitted the water, kept the egg in. I have noticed in the past that adding an egg to your mashed potatoes helps them not to melt/disappear into the gravy/beef mix - also provides a nice browning. This gave the potatoes a little zip. Enjoy!

Dog Treats I
Great Recipe and can be altered in so many ways with different flavors, grains, etc. I used chicken bouillon granules and oil instead of margarine. Our Lucy LOVES these and we have shared them with all her doggy friends. We humans even tasted em! Pretty good actually, for doggy treats but think I'll stick with my homemade whole wheat. Good, solid basic recipe with good results. An extra egg helps them to be a bit softer for older doggies to chew. Woof!

Carrot Cake III
I have been cooking for over 40 years and tried many different carrot cake recipes. Some were good, others not so much. BUT - I have to admit - this one TAKES THE CAKE as the very best. I made a few adjustments however, this cake is an absolute keeper recipe! Bar none, the VERY best I have found - and being from the 70's generation when it was the thing to make - I have had the time to experience many. Very moist and great integration of flavors. The adjustments I made are slight but I have listed them: 1 c. white and 1 cup drk brown sugar, extra pecans in cake. I also added an extra 4 oz. cream cheese and reduced the powdered sugar to 3 c. for the icing. I did not mix the pecans in but sprinkled them on top and they were only very roughly chopped. I even left it in the 9 x 13 pan. Leftovers didn't make it 2 days and that is only 3 people. I know, rather like gluttony however, it was that good. Even ate it for breakfast one morning and I am not a sweet eater! Try this one!
