About this Cook
Just a girl who likes to cook and put out fantastic foods...
My favorite things to cook
Honestly, I have to say it's rice and beans...very simple, yet very satisfying for the soul
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking family foods without a defined recipe, but rather cooking from 'just knowing' what works... ;)
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to make scrambled eggs @ 5; cooking in my easy-bake oven @ 7; seeing the glow from my husband's face whenever I make something new/different
My cooking tragedies
Making salmon mousse for a dinner party my 'rents were throwing @ 13--everyone else liked it, but I thought it was awful (I love seafood, too)

Marzipan II
I was going to try this recipe, but almond paste is too soft, and once mixed with egg whites, it's just a mess. Most of the other recipes I've found call for finely ground blanched almonds--probably b/c of the dryness? Hopefully, this helps...

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge
AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! A GIGANTIC hit with everyone! One of the best batches of fudge I've ever made! The only suggestion is to put the marshmallow creme (Fluff) after you've started warming the sugar and evaporated milk--it helps with preventing the burning on the bottom of the pan. Thanks!!

Frosted Maple Cookies
Can you say SUPER-YUMMY?!! For the holidays, I made a wide range of cookies and bars, and I have to say, that these were the first to go! EVERYONE loved these!! I think it's because there aren't too many maple cookies out there, but whatever it is, a HUGE success with everyone! The only thing I recommend is if you're going to stack them on one another, make sure to put a piece of wax paper between them, so you don't get 4 cookies stuck together!! :) Thanks!!
