Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2004
This was good, very tender, I'll make it again. Sometimes these "hall of famers" make you expect a little too much. A definate five, but the gravy was a little bland in flavor, and just a touch too salty. I also browned the meat first, and added a can of mushrooms and an onion. Overall very good recipe.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2004
This was good, my family really liked it. I thought it was way too heavy. I'll make it again, for them, it's a good one for the kids, but not for myself. I cut the recipe in half and it was still enough for 8++ people easy!

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
Very good, almost too intimidating for my family. For some reason the cranberry/white chocolate combo just put them off. I think these would be great for a ladies tea, but not so much for a kids birthday party.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
Very good, but almost has too much going on. Some of my guests loved it, other didn't finish theirs. I thought it was good, just a too many flavors going on.

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
This was good, a little sweet for my taste, but everone else finished theirs. I had even cut down on the sugar by about 1/8th cup. My picky husband said it was "REALLY GOOD". I think it would be great with a tangier fruit, rasberries or blackberries perhaps. Great crust, I can use that for a lot of different desserts. Thanks! (Ooopps! Tried it with frozen (thawed and drained) fruit and it was really soggy - watch that variation!)

Chutney Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
This was great, quick, and way too easy! I skipped the salt & pepper seasoning, thank goodness, because it was borderline too intense anyway. My husband loved it - he said one bite would be perfect and the next "almost" too seasoned. I used a sweet and tangy Mango chutney and added a little cayenne pepper. I think next time I will add 1-2 TBS of water to mellow it just a touch. Finally, I now know what great things can be done with chutney. I also halved the recipe, and it still was enough sauce for the 4 of us. Great since chutney is fairly $$$.

Creamy Orange Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
This was good, not really what I expected. I agree with the others that it is impossible to find orange cake mix. I used a white cake mix and some orange extract & zest. I topped it with Manderian orange pieces, and it was very pretty, it just didn't have enough orange flavor for me.

Picnic Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2004
GREAT RECIPE! I make this all the time now. I used chicken tender strips, and they turned out great (about 1/2 the cooking time.) I would cut the "sprinkling" salt down to 1/2 tsp, and I used buttermilk. I never thought fried chicken could be soo easy. I SWEAR WHEN I DIE MY HUSBAND WILL STILL BE RAVING ABOUT MY FRIED CHICKEN THANKS TO THIS RECIPE!

This was very good, even though I did marinate as long as I was suppose to. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Mexican Chicken Kiev

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2004
This was wonderful! I did use diced green chilis and shredded mexican cheese (I had both in the house already), and it was perfect. I also added a little extra cumin, but it would have been fine the way the recipe had stated. Thanks I will make this again and again!

Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2004
This was wonderful. I used thick, sweet french toast bread, topped with a little nutmeg, and added a little dry sherry in the vanilla sauce. I will make this again and again. Thanks!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2004
This gets 5 stars because it was soo tender. I put in too much garlic, us crazy Italians, oh well. It would be fun to try onions in the oil, or other stuff.

Polish Cabbage Noodles

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2004
This was good. A little bland, but still good. My husband liked it, but said I should keep this one to about once a month or so. I liked it with a little soy sauce on it. It was better the second day. My daughter (1 1/2 yrs) asked for more.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2004
This was very good. I brushed real melted butter on the chips, and used extra cinnimon, and it was great. I also used the mini cupcake tins to bake them in, (which makes very pretty curls) but it makes sharp as well, so next time they will be flat. I used frozen rasp. and strawbrys, and one apple and had plenty of salsa. One of my guests stood there for a good 20 minutes just eating this one appetizer. Thanks for the recipe.

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2004
These were good, not amazing, but good. They seemed a little bland to me. I had to add salt, I also used chicken broth instead of wine (our friends don't drink) maybe it would have been better with wine.

Party Pinwheels

This was really good. I forgot the celery, and left out the cheese, but I think it would have been better with the celery or maybe some water chestnuts. Overall good easy recipe!! Thanks!

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2004
Well, my husband said this was ok, but my superbowl guests said "amazing!" So it gets five stars. I made some the first day for my husband and baked the rest of the mixture (the next day) for Sunday's party. Maybe it tasted better after letting the flavors mix. Really, I couldn't tell the difference, both days tasted good to me.

Grammy Burnham's Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2003
Ok, even though I completely messed up this recipe, I added 2 cubes of butter - must have been thinking about all the xmas wrapping I had to do. They still turned out fine. I did add extra flour & spice, when I realized what I had done. I was so tired all I wanted to do was be done, and go to bed. Anyway, my husband loves them. I thought they were pretty good, all things considered.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2003
These were good, not quite what I expected. My mother had a recipe that sounded like this one, but alas it wasn't. My family likes them well enough to rate 4 1/2 stars, so I gave them a reluctant 5. They do stay soft, and have good flavor, I was just hoping for something different.
