I'm a fun, layed-back, easy-going kinda guy. I attended Culinary School at Western Culinary in 1989, but have been in the "Industry" since 1981. When I was a youngster, my Mom had a rule ... "Whoever Cooks, doesn't have to do the dishes!" Since I hate to do the dishes I learned to Cook at an early age. I have enjoyed it every since.
My favorite things to cook
I Love to bake at midnight or later, some people think I'm crazy, but I find it very therapuetic. I love to bake desserts and try to create as I go. Most of my stuff is now sugar-free since there is a history of diabettes in my family, and I'm not getting any younger. Here it is after 1 am and I just finished baking a Sugarfree Apple Pie.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Favorite traditions all involve the holidays. I am one man that rules the Kitchen during these events. I have even chased my mom out of the kitchen, and SHE taught me alot of what I know, as did my grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
A few years ago I went to some friends house for Thanksgiving and she asked me to make the Gravy since she was not good at it, and her Husband was even worse. Since then I always make the Gravy at the holiday parties, sometimes I think that is the only reason I get invited ... Ha ha ha, just kidding. Oh Yeah, and I make the "WORLD'S GREATEST" Pineapple Upside Down Cake!
My cooking tragedies
One year I decided to experiment with the traditional candied yams we always had at Thanksgiving. I had seen Felicia Rashad make Candied Yams with Mint on a Cooking show. Unfortunately, I added WAY to much mint, and most of the yams went in the trash. My mother will never let me live that one down.
