My favorite things to cook
Love to make comfort foods, soups, stews, with a twist. Have a mean sweet tooth, hence the screen name, so when there's time there's cookies. Make a mean stir fry, too!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chicken a la King on biscuits, Thai and Caribbean curries, spanakopita, meat loaf, zucchini puffs.
For sweets, banana bread, strawberry-rhubarb crisp, rum balls, toffee bars and big, soft ginger cookies.
My cooking triumphs
Kicking a 20 pound turkey into a 15 pound oven one memorable Thanksgiving on our live aboard 32' sloop in the Caribbean, many eons ago. Also making pies in my old camper. Oh, and making a giant blueberry muffin in a dutch oven, while on a river trip in Hell's canyon..
My cooking tragedies
My now grown children love to remind me about the time I steamed up a bunch of broccoli without really examining it first, and we ate about half of it before realizing it was liberally "peppered" with insects!
