Vegan Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2013
These cupcakes were easy to bake and a total hit at my office, when combined with an avacado, cocoa and honey icing. (not vegan). Will definitely make them again.

Scotch Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
These cookies have been made in my family for over well over 100 years. The key to them being the "best" is 1) Use butter that is at room temperature and handle the cookies very carefully, because they are very very soft but worth the work. 2) You have to make them at least 2 weeks ahead and keep them in an airtight tin so that they can mellow and this really bring out the buttery flavour. 3) My family rolls them out to about 1/2" and cuts them in a small circle with a tiny bit of maraschino cherry in the centre. 4) You only bake them until they are just set, they should still be white when you take them out of the oven and the bottoms just a tiny bit toasted and definitely use parchment paper. ENJOY!!

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
Family loved these better than the traditional bisxuits that we make. They are soft, tender and moist and an excellent compliment to slowcooker stew. Will definately make them again.

Shortbread Supreme

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
This is the same recipe that has been passed down in my family for almost 5 generations. The key to these, is that you have to bake them, and put them in an airtight cookie tin, and let them mellow for about 2 weeks before you eat them, then drink them with your Grandma with a cuppa tea. Then they are not just good they are AWESOME! Miss you much grandma!

Magic Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
4 out of 5 people in my house loved the pie...very very easy to make, and I think maybe the chef that had the sauce break and not turn out may have added the lemon too fast. I add it by the tablespoon and then I don't even have to use the beaters. Also, on a 9 inch pie pan I always use a 3 egg meringue and so I just threw in the 3rd yolk, kept the entire recipe the same, and still had great results. Even my picky husband who doesn't like lemon pie ate it and said it was good. But my son who is a lemon pie fanatic, said it isn't lemony enough for him, so next time I am going to use real lemons like other chefs have stated. But definately a keeper for those days you need a quick dessert. Thanks for sharing.

Apple Pie in a Brown Paper Bag

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
Given a 5 star for flavour. We don't like apples that stay crisp when cooked, so I won't make it with Granny Smith's again, but the flavour was really good. Mother in law LOVED it said it reminded her of the "BIG APPLE" in Colborne, Ontario's pie, which she loves! She nicknamed it sweet and sour pie! Thanks for sharing!

Master Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
Totally amazing and easy dough!!! LOVE IT, this is going to be my staple dough from now on! Thanks for sharing! UPDATE: Another fantastic turnout! Kids say this dough "ROCKS". Super easy and super fast pizza. Faster than take out, healthier than take out and tastes better than take out! Big savings too, because a pizza here in the Arctic costs $45 bucks and I can make it for less than $15!!!

Perfect Baked Jerk Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
Great flavour, not spicy enough, and we doubled the cayenne. We also found that they looked dry when they were sitting, so we added a splash of Jack Daniels and also a half of lime fresh squeezed. My son said they were awesome, and he doesn't eat much of anything! I am sure with ALOT more cayenne, it will be a 5***** recipe. Thanks!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
YUMMMMMY! Was the consensus when these hit the table. Only thing I did differently was, I was out of dry mustard and used 1 squirt of Dijon, and I didn't have molasses and used a good squeeze of dark golden syrup. Definately going to make these again. Thank you for sharing.
