Authentic Pad Thai

Based on the previous reviews, I used only 1/2 pound of rice noodles and increased the amount of sauce. This recipe is a keeper!

A little too sweet for our tastes, but still yummy (and vegan)!

Sweet Sourdough Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
What a GREAT way to use sourdough starter (I can't bear to throw it out)! I added about 1/2 cup each of chocolate chips, currants, and oatmeal to the recipe, and they turned out nicely, although I think they would be pretty good without add-ins, too. One thing I really liked is that, due to the sourdough starter, the cookies rise nicely, consistently, and don't fall. My starter was not sweet and made from whole wheat flour, and it worked fine.

Florida Strawberry Bread

Reviewed: May 26, 2011
Nice flavor, but it turned out dry and not-so-tender. Most of my other sweet bread recipes call for more sugar; next time, I will try increasing the sugar to 1 1/4 or 1 1/3 cups.

Delicious and easy! I halved the recipe, except for the green chilies. It makes a great brunch or quick dinner.

Avocado Tacos

This is a lovely, quick, and easy dinner. I had some peach-mango salsa on hand, which complemented the flavors of the recipe nicely.

Pizza Dough III

This is our go-to pizza dough recipe. It always turns out great, and accepts add-ins (fresh herbs, garlic, different flours, etc.) well.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

It's good, but missing something . . . garlic?? This is a fine basic recipe; you can add almost anything to it, according to your taste.

Nice dinner full of vegetables! Next time, I will add some garlic, maybe more salt, and some cayenne pepper to increase the depth of flavor.

Orange Citrus Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
I didn't have rice wine vinegar, so used white and apple cider vinegar. Also, I didn't have cilantro, so that was omitted. Still, a wonderful light, tangy and sweet dressing.

Cranberry Upside-Down Cake

I had to bake mine for ~40 minutes, maybe because of our high altitude (~5000ft), but the result was delicious!

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
So yummy! I did not follow the recipe exactly, but I don't think that matters. The biggest difference is that I used canned beans instead of dry to save time. Full flavor and just the right amount of heat made this dish a winner!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
Finally, a chili recipe that doesn't take all day! I used a packet of taco seasoning instead of chili powder, only had one pound of ground beef, and just simmered half the recommended time. It still came out delicious! My chili-hating husband even liked it.

Devil's Steak Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
Yes! Amazing sauce you can whip up in a flash! I found this recipe to be especially acommodating to substitutions: I used grape jam instead of raspberry and soy sauce (!) instead of Worchestershire. No more A1 for us!
