About this Cook
I'm a new cook living in Seattle, WA. My day job is at an infant center of a local Montessori school.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook all kinds of soup, Mexican food, Cuban food, Thai food, and COOKIES. I'm also a vegetarian.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family didn't cook much on a day-to-day basis, so most of the home cooking I experienced was at my grandma's house during Thanksgiving and Christmas. One timeless family tradition is when my grandma passes out sheets of paper after almost every holiday meal and has us write a critique of her mashed potatoes! She always thinks they're too lumpy.
My cooking triumphs
I recently made French bread for the first time, and it turned out great! I've always been terrified of yeast breads because it seems like so much can go wrong.
My cooking tragedies
My cooking history is one big tragedy :). Up until recently I tried to keep a safe distance from all cooking utensils to avoid any further incidents like the infamous "Pancake Fiasco of 2001," where I threw a skillet of pancakes which were ON FIRE out of the kitchen window, leaving a scorched patch of dead grass on our lawn for years afterward. But I'm slowly overcoming that traumatic event and learning to love the kitchen.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
My husband says they are "perfect," and he is very critical about cookies!

Garlic and Leek Ditalini
This was delicious! I used orzo pasta instead of ditalini because that's what I had on hand. I will definitely make it again.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
I added 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning, 1/2 tsp parsley and a dash of seasoning salt and let the dumplings cook for an hour and a half. This was so easy I made it while on crutches!
