What It's Like to Live Now, with Gratitude

Thelma and Louise hit the road

Thelma and Louise hit the road, free range women again.

This time to meet up with Lucky Noodles and take her with us to a house Dear Louise found in Caseyville, IL to meet up with CatHill and MiBeingMi. We packed Louise's car with our stuff. Literally. Packed. (She has the faux toe)

To find the house we were staying in we had to turn right at the giant catsup bottle. Really. It's a historical (and hysterical) momument. At this point, I must apologize for the paucity of "faux toes". I know the better photographers in our company have many more.

The house was wonderful. Very private with a back deck that looked over a small lake. And what a kitchen!!

Louise aka Magnolia Blossom (for anyone who hasn't followed our previous excellent adventures) had put a shout out on the buzz to anyone living in the area if they wanted to meet up.

We met Mel's Cooking Now and her four legged friend Belle. Mel graciously cooked us an Italian dinner Sat. night.

Thursday night and the gangs all here.

On Friday we visited Soullard Farmers Market. Can you say jello shots? What a place! If I lived nearer I would visit this market frequently.

On Saturday we visited the Missouri Botanical Gardens.  .  . again WOW!! I should have taken more faux toes here but was enthralled and later hot and wanted off my feet.

Upon returning to the house, we had bloody Mary's in these cute glasses Mi brought and gave to us.

I was really happy to be able to see our lovely CatHill again and "fix" a sweater that didn't turn out quite right.

Spirits were high and I don't think anyone really wanted to leave.

About the pig tails and paisley. . .um. . .yeah, not to mention the boob. . . some things really need to stay in Caseyville. :)

A conversation on the way home.

Thelma: We are just about to pass Foot High Pies.

Louise: I was just thinking we need to do more research. It was on the food network!

Thelma smiles:

Louise says: I don't think it's open.

Thelma says: There is a car in the lot and the lights are on.

Louise turning off the ramp.

Thelma: What time is it? 7 Days a Week 11-9.

Louise: It's 10.

Thelma: .

Thelma: If we are still doing this when we are 70, maybe we'll slow down enough to be on time for things.

HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER

I love you ladies. Thank you all so very much. Especially my dear Louise.

That sweater definitely makes you the Queen of yarn! You know, I don't think I will ever see pigtails, paisley or reins in ever the same way again. Some things just can't be explained unless you were there ;)

Adventures of Thelma and Louise . . . Can we get a reality show sponsor to pay for these trips. no, never mind, too much footage could cause a bit of trouble. I'll be your Brad Pitt any day!

May 22, 2013 8:18 am
Mi! Magnolia Blossom convinced me I would be labelled incendiary if I posted a "faux toe" of that, LOL!!! I think it was too life like :)

May 22, 2013 8:19 am

May 23, 2013 5:26 am
Yes I agree what a fun blog. What a fun time you all had, so very cool. Mother Ann Cape May NJ isn't that far from you you could always come join us on the beach next Saturday.

May 23, 2013 9:45 am
LOL, Mother Ann. . .you should have seen that trunk. It was like a puzzle. . . Joey Joan, I hope your Beach Meet is a success and as much fun as we have had. Wish I could attend ;)

May 23, 2013 2:10 pm
Joey - I'm afraid that Cape May is about 475 miles from me - too far for a weekend visit; I live in NE Ohio, but I'd love to spend a day on the beach! In June my family and I will be on Chincoteague Island, VA and I CAN'T WAIT!

May 25, 2013 8:23 am
Sounds like lots of fun!! :)

May 25, 2013 12:14 pm
Linda, thanks for stopping in. We commented this weekend, how amazing it is that we've become such good friends through an internet site. We're very fortunate to enjoy this great community and it has been a blessing to be able to meet and enjoy one anothers company so much! :)

May 25, 2013 12:27 pm
So glad you got a out on a road trip, Sparkle Britches ......hey, AR now has auto spell-how great is that!!! People like me, who type faster than proof read need this on web sites:P..... Sounds like you had a wonderful time. That ketchup bottle-I know a young man, friends with my baby, who could eat all that ketchup in his lifetime. The kid puts ketchup on everything, YUCK. I think I even caught him grabbing the bottle for pancakes on morning:)

May 25, 2013 12:28 pm
*one morning....LMAO auto correct does not add the 'e' as needed.

May 25, 2013 1:07 pm
Clearly I haven't found the spell check/auto correct function. I type too fast and my eyes see what they want to see :) Funny. I was talking to my neighbors about catsup before this trip and we all agreed Brooks was the best but we couldn't find it anymore. I DID find some on our trip and brought them home a bottle. I don't use catsup much anymore, but. . .pancakes, really? EW! :)

May 25, 2013 1:28 pm
I had a gramma who cooked so badly that we would put ketchup on everything she made if we had to sit at the table. Family gathering had us eating off TV trays in the living room or back porch and we would feed her plants the unwanted food. I wonder what she thought when she would water her plants and find bits of Turkey dinner in there? I cannot be held accountable, I was 6 years old at the time and followed my older cousin's lead.

May 25, 2013 1:53 pm
LOL!! Well, there is just no accounting for a child's palate. . .I was a child once too and nearly considered catsup a vegetable. I do still like it but use it sparingly. Enjoy it in salad dressings and hash browns :)

About Me
Living with two grown children (19 and 24)and two dogs. Presently working on a web page for e-commerce.
My favorite things to cook
Anything, really. What do you like to eat? :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm not sure we have traditions, just great gatherings food and love.
My cooking triumphs
I taught myself to make Danish Pastry about 20 yrs. ago. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and ohhh so yummy !!
My cooking tragedies
The very first time I tried to make bread. . . I baked clever little bricks. They LOOKED like bread. . . very deceiving. . .played with them in the back yard (I was 15. . . the dogs "fetched" them, but even they couldn't eat them.)
