First things first: I am a follower of Jesus Christ! :] I am a 22 year old woman, not yet married, and still living at home. I take care of my mom and younger sister. I do all the cooking, cleaning, driving, etc. because my mom has numerous health issues. I have been cooking since the age of four, and it has become a passion. I am southern through and through, but I have recently tried to reform our eating habits. Needless to say, this site has become a close friend in the journey to a healthier lifestyle.
My favorite things to cook
Wow, I don't know. I love to cook everything- just remember my southern roots. Italian, Chinese, Thai, Greek, Mexican, Spanish, Mediterranean, and forever growing cuisines. Breads, cookies, brownies, crockpot meals, pastas, etc. I just love to cook everything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmm, I don't know that there are many cooking traditions in my family. I would like to think that I am instituting some new traditions, though. I have recently stumbled upon a keeper recipe for awesome biscuits, I am famous for my macaroni&cheese, and I can generally throw down in the kitchen. I have had plenty of experience in feeding my family and family friends- I have 18 aunts and uncles, 46 first cousins, and I stopped counting after that.
My cooking triumphs
I am a humble cook, so I feel triumphant if everyone is satisfied with a smile on their face after the meal. Some notable achievements, though: the first time I made my version of fettucine alfredo for my younger sister, the surprise red velvet cake for my mom's birthday, and the day I set out to conquer the perfect batch of Mexican rice.
My cooking tragedies
One gleaming mistake makes me lower my head in shame. I scorched an entire pot of vegetable beef soup when I was 10. And it had more than $35 worth of ingredients in it. A sad, gloomy day.
