Old Time Kentucky Bacon Milk Gravy for Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2012
I grew up with this gravy as well. I and my mom and my mom's family came from the mountains of good 'ol KY. This recipe is the old original mountain milk gravy my mom was taught to make by her mom. My mom was a coal miners daughter living 2 coal camps down from Loretta Lynn.As a child I was always taught to keep the grease that came off the bacon back because we always used it for cooking. Green beans, biscuits, cornbread, greens, fried cabbage,ect....I don't cook with it as much now learning just how unhealthy it is for my family and myself, but now and then I do go with those yummy home cooked meals from way back. This is awesome and you will love it.

Cincinnati Chili I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2012
I grew up with this dish called three ways. My dad was from Cincinnati so i say this is a real dish of the City. We would just get a good brand of canned chili or left over chili and go from there. It is always yummy.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
This is an amazing chicken recipe. We totally love this honey mustard sauce. I only put 1/2 the amount of light corn syrup on it tho and it was awesome. I fried the chicken in bacon drippings as well. This recipe is going in our family recipes and the sauce is also going the the sauce section along with my homemade BBQ sauce. Thanks for sharing.

This is amazing.Going in our family recipe book. Our daughter ,who isn't crazy about much yelled out this meat was amazing and she wanted us to save her another piece. LOL All through eating she made statement about this meat being soooo good.Great with A1. It would be awesome if we could find an amazing gravy to top it with. If I find one I will share on this review. I swerved this with creamed spinach and home made whipped potatoes.

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
This is a really good biscuit recipe. I can actually bake biscuits now. They are not as good as my moms but I can't achieve biscuits like that and no one else I know(person or restaurant) can so I am happy with this recipe. I let them set for 15 minutes before baking and they were bigger and lighter. Thanks for sharing.

Chewy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2012
AWESOME!! Made as directed. I just had to bake them longer then called for in the recipe. Thanks for sharing. This is a keeper. You can make these cookies thick and chewy by placing them closer together. They come out kinda square because the come together while baking, but yummy. Just cut along the lines to separate the cookies. If you bake them far a part and kinda flatten them they come out thin and crisp.

Buttery Corn Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Ok..the deal is I can not make cornbread. No matter how hard I try it just is never good. This cornbread came out amazing!!!!!!!! The only corn bread I have ever had this good, light and fluffy is my mom's old fashioned buttermilk cornbread and she hasn't been able to make it for quite some time. I never thought I could ever make cornbread this good ever!!!! If I can make this it is fool proof! Thanks for sharing. This is our new family recipe!!! :)Our daughter doesn't like cornbread and she loves this. I told her she never liked it before because it was mine..LOL

Orange Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
I have had this desert for years on the holidays. My mom discovered this many years ago and it became a family tradition. This is my moms favorite holiday desert. It is sad that she can no longer make this for herself and we have moved out of state. My sister doesn't cook on the holidays so my mom may never get this desert again.

Oregon Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
This is a good recipe but I wasn't amazed with it. I feel like there is better out there or this could be tweeked to be awesome. First off the mixture was way to thin and I had less juice then they called for. I had to use all the crackers and more to try to get it into a doe instead of a soup. However I never achieved a doe you could shape. I spooned in onto a plate of cracker crumbs. The patties became to thin. I didn't have the stuff to make the lemon sauce ppl are raving about on here. I will try it next time. It was a good way to use up the salmon we had tho. I may try to tweek this later or maybe try another recipe. Thanks for sharing.

Candied Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
This is a very good recipe. I love the sauce. I did not add water to my sauce and it was thick and yummy. The kids really liked it as well. This should be added as a kid friendly recipe. Thanks for sharing. I will make this again. Served with white rice with butter, salt and pepper. Would be great with fried rice and egg rolls also. Will try the left over with fried rice and egg rolls.

Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2011
I personally don't care for this. My husband thinks it is ok and our 7 yr. old don't like it. However, our 20 yr. old who hates everything loves it. I always loved my mom's S.O.S. Has my taste changed? I am going to ask her how she made it when I was growing up. Sometimes she used hamburger and sometimes dried beef..Thanks for sharing and I am sure this is a wonderful recipe.

Kelsey's Favorite Stuffed Green Peppers

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
I gave this 5 star cuz it is an awesome place to start. I made stuffed green peppers with pre-fried hamburger before and we all thought they were disgusting. My dad always baked the meat mixture in the green peppers and his were amazing. So that is what I do. I used 5 peppers and calculated the recipe. I added onion,Worcestershire sauce about 2 -3 TBSP. ,garlic powder and onion powder. I eye balled these and the salt and pepper. I added 2C. of pre cooked minute rice and 2 eggs beaten. Mixed well. I cut the tops off the peppers and cleaned them out and stuffed them with the mixture. I did not pre cook the peppers. They do not need it. For the sauce I used a big can of tomato sauce and 1 1/2 cups of ketchup with made it awesome. I pored some on the bottom of the deep baking dish and then put the peppers in and poured the rest over the top and baked for 1.5 hrs. at 350. Amazing peppers almost as good as my dads. He passed away and I do not remember how to make them like he did. Thanks for helping with this recipe.

Blue Cheese, Bacon and Chive Stuffed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2011
This is an awesome recipe and has earned its way into our family. I cut a deep pocket in the middle of each chop, seasoned inside and out with garlic powder, pepper and onion powder. then i browned the chops in bacon grease before baking. I doubled the bacon and baked them 40 minutes for 4 chops. i did not add an form of salt and believe me, as a salt lover ,I am here to say this recipe does not need salt and should never have been a part of this recipe. If you like blue cheese you will find this recipe to be a keeper. thanks for sharing.
