Mom's Simple Dumplings

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
I sauteed carrots, celery, onions, garlic and a bay leaf together and then added some diced chicken breast. Thickened with cornstarch added salt and pepper to taste and then made these dumplings. They were great. They did not turn out as pictured but maybe my broth was more bubbly. Still they were chewy on the outside and bread like in the middle which is exactly how I want my dumplings. I did use butter instead of shortening. Thank you for the great recipe I will use over and over.

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Thank you to everyone that reviewed this recipe. I added two eggs, 1/2 cup applesauce, 1/2tsp cinnamon, 1/2 cup brown sugar and a few tablespoons water to make mixing easier. I baked muffins at 350 for about 20-25 minutes and then topped with cream cheese icing. These are the best! You have to try them jazzed up a little.

This recipe just did not work for me. These brownies has great flavor but came out so dry. I didn't change anything so please don't think that affected the outcome. This is the first recipe I truly dislked.

Bread in a Bag

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
What a simple, easy, and delicious recipe. I just happened to see this in the allrecipes email and was very excited to try out a simple bread recipe that my 8 year could help out with. Well it worked wonderfully and although I am definitely not a baker I will be more adventurous thanks to this recipe. Fail proof and great!

Good basic recipe but try using some garlic and ginger while stir frying and a jalapeno and you will find the flavor much more interesting.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
This was a wonderful basic chili recipe but I did make several changes. I used 1 1/2lbs lean ground beef and 1/2 lb italian sausage. I then added four cloves of garlic, almost doubled the chili powder, added another teaspoon of cumin, only used half of tomato juice as everyone else suggested, and added one can drained chopped tomatoes. It could not have turned out better! Thank you George and reviewers, it's recipes like this that keep me coming back to this website more than any other.

Swedish Cured Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2013
This will be a new summertime tradition in our house. I marinated the pork loin for 48 hours. The spices were perfect. I did not have any cumin(just ran out) so instead I used some McCormick Bbq seasoning and a little less salt. I cooked it over indirect heat for an hour and fifteen minutes. So moist and very flavorful. My husband who doesn't like a lot of salt really loved the dish. This was by far the very best pork loin I have ever tasted. Thank you so much for this recipe.

Chicken Tortilla Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2012
Winning recipe - things I changed like other reviewers - used some chicken I roasted, jalapenos instead of green chiles, cumin (two tsp), added more garlic and cooked it for an hour.

Candy Cane Cookies from Gold Medal® Flour

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
What a great recipe. We did not have any peppermint oil since the stores were all out on christmas eve. Used more vanilla instead. We melted some andes mints and drizzled them across the cookies instead. This dough was so good it almost did not make it into cookie form - seriously! Yummy

Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2012
Great basic recipe for eggrolls. We omitted the MSG and bamboo shoots and eggs due to allergies. We added a teaspoon of sesame oil and some pepper the eggroll seasoning. We used three tablespoons of flour and three tablespoons of water to make a paste to seal the eggrolls instead of eggs. Had some roasted shredded pork which really made this eggroll stand out. We made all different sizes and they were all great!

Very Good recipe that definitely beats that old can of sweet potatoes and bag of marshmallows. What a great recipe. Made it last year and it was requested again this year.
