Simply White Bread II

First bread I have ever made in my machine that did not crumble when sliced. Opposed to other reviews I might add an extra dash of salt and maybe a teaspoon or two more of honey.

Cheesy Tuna Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
A great dish! Very rich in calories with butter and all the cheese. Made almost as described. Added 1/2 can of carrots an 1/2 can of peas (leftovers) to first layer after noodles. Would just use shredded mozz next time as I needed to add to top layer anyway. Also seaoned cottage chesse with foremntiond spices. My family enjoyed more than I expected. Would have tried the roux version as others have suggested but my family are not big mushroom fans.

Easy, Cheesy Tortellini Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Almost too easy of a recipe for me, maybe a homemade marinara or diced tomatoes instead of the can sauce, next time. Made exactly as stated and was told by my not so favorite friends of spinanch that it had to much! However it did get eaten. Not sure I would run to make it again, if in a jam for time a simple jar of sauce would work, opposed to having to purchase 2!

Followed almost to a tee! Used only about 3 tablespoons Dijon, added a few drops of Tabasco to butter/mustard mix. I also added Parm cheese to breadcrumbs for coating. Family enjoyed

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Not a great winner at home but worth trying. Tenderloin was moist and tasty but a cheaper cut of pork may be better suited for this recipe. I followed the recipe to the tee.........the gravy was the best part. (add cornstarch after "resting" pork and cook broth or au jus for 10 minutes on high while in crockpot) Next time if I were to follow the ideas I might try to sear ahead of time and or use a cheaper cut of pork. All the seasonings and such were just right for us and my daughter who did finish almost all of her plate!

Sweet and Sour Drumettes

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
Used 1/2 cup sugar, would have used honey for thickness too but had none on hand. Added 1 teaspoon molasses maybe not the right addition to sauce. Would suggest frying the chicken a little longer for a darker brown coating. Added cornstarch because of consistencey, again honey maybe best! Be sure to coat both sides of chicken in sauce. Was a little sticky for our tastes but the chicken was very moist cooked this way. May experiement again!

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2010
Just how I make it! I often will use cheese ends from deli for a variety of flavors. Not to much mozzeralla though or any other flavor, an inexpensive way for change. Expect you might need more butter/flour to the roux, I often use a little cream combined with mild (not so heart healthy), One breadcrumbs (try Panko) are added I do not add additional butter or marg.

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
Recipe worked well. Was sweet for a BBQ sauce if your interested in a more tangy spicy flavor. I would try with a cheaper cut of meat such as a pork end or chicken thighs/legs. The idea of braising meat in a crockpot such as this recipe usually allows for the fat of the meat to work into the flavors.

Chicken Scampi II

A good basis for an excellant recipe. I myself made a few mistakes such as adding the called for butter and than additional within the cooking time. I would add a little more lemon than called for next time. Family not terribly impressed but picky eaters ate, which counts for something!

Pesto Tuna Salad with Sun-Dried Tomatoes

For picky eaters in my family I used less than half of the pesto/sundried tomatoe combination. I personally think this recipe was great! Picky eaters were no so impressed. I used fresh bakery bread lightly toasted with melted Muenster cheese!

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
Very workable recipe to create your own version. I did use a ham bone and added extra left over ham from Easter. The broth was very good, I did not add carrots and potatoes as I will trying to make more of a soup then a stew. Used the shortened method for soaking beans worked well. Added a few extra spices (garlic powder, oregano) and some chicken broth as well as water. May use some more peas then suggested next time to make it thicker. Simmered much longer (plus 2 hours) then suggested. Added cornstarch to thicken but all in all a good base receipe to build your own creation!
