Spicy Lemon Pork Saute

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
OMG...they are a keeper. I don't do very spicy food so I used the cayenne pepper sparingly, but next time I will try a little more. I did use 3 large garlic cloves and 1/4 c. lemon juice for 2 chops. They were SO tender and moist I couldn't believe it, because I usually ruin pork chops when I fry them. This recipe is a company one...would be proud to serve it to anyone. :-)

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2011
Flavor was awesome...unfortunately a bit too hot for me even tho I used only half the hot sauce called for. Will change some things to compensate for not using hot sauce. I only used 2 chicken breasts and the sauce thickened so well there wasn't enough..I like sauce...will make some modifications next time.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2011
I have not tried this recipe but it is almost exactly like the one I do use. The big thing I noticed is the shortening. Lard is by far the best and I always substitute some of that for butter, gives a richer flakier crust. Also ice water is important, and use surgical gloves when I handle pastry.

Mom's Raisin Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Not impressed at all..boring and flat tasting. I always make the exact recipe then make changes if they are pretty good to start with, but I won't bother with this one. Was very dissapointed.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
I tried this recipe tonight for the first time and was a little dissapointed. We love garlic so I added more than it called for..I didn`t have any cumin so subbed it for garam masala. I found it very bland. It had a tiny bite to it....but otherwise quite tasteless. I WILL try it again but I think I`ll add lime juice to it and see if that helps.

Nova Scotian Hodge Podge

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
A friend of mine who moved to BC from Nova Scotia taught me how to make hodgepodge but with the very earliest spring veggies but NOT turnips. Too strong. No flour or water..only cream and butter. She says I make it as well as a Nova Scotian is awesome.
