Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
Do NOT make! I am a newer cook...however my husband is an expert cook so Ive been spoiled the last 10 years and finally thought I should have 10-20 meals that are excellent instead of depending on him =) So I thought...why not start with enchiladas =) It got high ratings, all looked good. I followed other advised revisions and did not have the soupy mess that others had. After I made the filling (btw I made 4x the recipe so I could freeze have left overs) so the inside tasted awesome it was like home made stove top without the crutons and 'thought' maybe this was going to lead up to something good! I WAS W-R-O-N-G......so I have to say...they were not completely unedible...by the time we added chopped green onion, sour cream, avocado, olives, etc...it all meshed together 'ok'...along with the other sides we had with the dish.....the next day when I went to get some left overs, I was thinking how FUN it would have been if it would have tasted like restaurant quality, being home made *by me*...but unfortunately...just another day of stove top chicken enchiladas =) Now im stuck with the filling.....im sure my hubs will find something to do with it, the good side? I didnt over-eat (lol)

Luscious Slush Punch

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2010
MMMMM it was great....I put the liquid into Huge Ziplock bags...and set them inside of two large bowls, just in case they leaked, they didnt, and then the next morning took them to my parents for fathers day lunch. We used the first bag and mixed it with seven up, as my husband bought that soda thinking it would be better than gingerale....WRONG!! The gingerale was REALLLLLLY good...it was perfect...it gave the punch the pizazz without stealing the flavor like the seven up did...unless you're a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of seven up....dont go with it...for me seven up reminds me of being a kid, and having adults buy me that through the drive thu at mcdonalds because sprite doesnt stain/no caffeine...well the taste just seems grose to me...but this was delish with bag number two which I used yesterday...a few weeks after fathers day weekend.....it froze solid, and slushed up with the room temperature gingerale, and was a HUGE hit with my either year old nephew... who's starting to get into cooking....for the fourth of july im going to make this with him, along with red white and blue cake...where we put the colored drops into the cake batter (blue, red) and white frosting...he's adorable, but anyways im rambling on, THIS FIVE STARS...wooo hoo!!

German Chocolate Cake Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2010
This frosting tasted delicious!! HOWEVER...it was SOOO RUNNY!! I followed the directions just as the cook wrote out.....and at the end I realized I had forgotten to add the cornstarch as everyone else had suggested......So I added it to the mixture....and it did not help at all.....I added more and more...until finally I realized it was not helping and altering the texture of the it.... So there must be a trick or something with activation when you mix the cornstarch with the evaporated milk...b/c it didnt work when it was all over and done with....I would try this again, because the flavor was excellent like I said...there was a heavy topping of coconut/pecan ingredients, and beneath that was all the liquid... It was a waste, we didnt even use it...HOWEVER, the chocolate cake recipe I used was "Too Much Chocolate Cake" and it was heavenly...mmm...i'll be making that cake again for the 4th of July coming up. I just cant figure out why the cook would give a recipe that wouldnt come out right... The miserable part was that it wasted my time, and money... the other recipe I made was baklava and it turned out great lol, better luck next time "?"

Banana Cream Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
This recipe was the most simple thing ever, I thought with all of the outstandindg reviews it would be better. It would be fun for an elementary/middle/high schooler to prepare and munch on with friends at a kids party or at school function (for kids). I wasnt too embarrassed bringing this because it WAS a contribution and that is always nice (brought it for Thanksgiving 2009). I did bring an amazing "Martha Stewart" green bean casserole, so that was my prize dish for the day, which was divine!! PS: FYI do not make the pudding mix, otherwise you will have results like another negative reviewer having it too sloppy. I did follow another viewers alteration and cut back 1/2 cup on the milk and it was still a bit 'sloppy' when cut...even after storing it in the fridge overnight. Hope this helped =]
