Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
I just finished making this stew and I followed the recipe exactly as written. I have a recipe that I always use for stew that is very good but I decided to try this recipe because it didn't seem to be as much work as my other recipe, all the 5* reviews this recipe received, and because I had an envelope of onion soup mix I wanted to get rid of. I can't put my finger on what it is about this stew that I don't like but I think it may be the onion soup mix. That is the only ingredient that isn't in my regular stew. The gravy seems as if it has too many different flavors happening and tastes a bit strange to me. I'm going to play with it a bit now with maybe some canned tomatoes and whatever else I can dig up in my pantry to try and soften the flavors but I found the recipe as written was just OK.

Individual Baked Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
I followed this recipe exactly as written. I had family visiting for brunch and I wanted to make something impressive but something I could make ahead so I wasn't in the kitchen the entire time. This recipe is great. I prepared it before everyone arrived and placed the whole muffin tin in the fridge then threw it in the oven when everyone arrived. It was a BIG hit and super easy. Will definitely make again.

Campbell's® Pennsylvania Dutch Ham and Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
This recipe is not that good as written. I could see it being a hit with young kids but you definitely need to add 1/2 cup - 1 cup milk. I also only added half of the cooked noodles. 5 cups would've been way too much even with the addition of milk. I probably wouldn't make this again. I made it thinking the hubby would like it. He ate without complaint but then he tossed the leftovers without saying anything. If you half the noodles, add milk and some other spices I would rate this recipe a 3.

Sweet and Sour Pork I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
Really Good. Turned out better then I expected. Just like the Sweet & Sour Pork I get for take-out. The only change I made was I used cornstarch instead of the tapioca starch and 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes instead of red pepper cause its what I had on hand. I will make this again.

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
Followed recipe exactly as written. The end result was okay. Its very easy but I thought it was a little too lemony and too runny. At first I didn't like it but it tasted better on the eggs benedict I was making it for.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I made this exactly as written and it is very good guacamole. Will definitely make again in the future. Like all guacamole I had problems with it going brown after a bit and someone told me if you place one of the pits from one of the avocado in the center of the dip it will keep it from going brown.

Spring Asparagus Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I made this exactly as written for a bbq I was throwing. I chose it because of all the great reviews. I was very disappointed. Luckily I made this early in the day so I had time to run out and buy more asparagus because I threw the batch made with this recipe out. 3 minutes is WAY too long to boil the asparagus. I boiled for 3 minutes then added to an ice bath and the asparagus was very very soggy. I knew at that point I had to remake it but I figured I would try out the dressing on my 1st batch before throwing out just to to test out the dressing. Awful. The dressing was very bland and tasted like plain oil. For my 2nd attempt I added the asparagus to the boiling water and cooked for 1 minute then added to an ice bath. I still think this was a tad too long but much better. I tossed out the dressing from this recipe as well and ended up just using some bottled balsamic dressing. I suggest boiling just 1 or 2 asparagus spears to find out the cooking time that suits your taste before cooking the whole bunch.

Seven Layer Dip I

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
I have made this recipe numerous times. Seven layer dip is way better with ground beef. I leave out the beans altogether and sub a can of sliced jalapenos for the olives. Every time I make this dip it is completely gone in minutes and everyone says it is better with beef.

Restaurant-Style Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
I followed this recipe exactly as written. I weighed and measured everything perfectly but I knew something was wrong as soon as I mixed the potatoes with everything else. The end result was potato salad soup! I chilled the salad in the fridge for a few hours hoping it would thicken but it still had way too much dressing. Luckily, I had extra supplies and quickly cooked and added another russet. It was still pretty sloppy and I had no more potatoes so I added quite a bit more of the other veggies. It was still too mushy but by this point I think it was partly due to over mixing. I will definitely use this recipe again as the taste was exactly what I was looking for but I will use 3 pounds of potatoes instead of 2 and increase the amounts of the other veggies as well. I recommend this recipe but I would highly suggest having a few extra potatoes and veggies on hand just in case your tastes are like mine.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
Very good. Its hard finding recipes my picky boyfriend likes and we both liked this one. I followed the recipe exactly as written except for the addition of about 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. The sauce was a bit thin even after simmering for a bit. I would also recommend more cajun seasoning and salt.

Beaumont Ranch Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
I followed this recipe exactly as written (except to reduce the mayo) and thought it was okay. I thought there was too much bacon and mayo. I like bacon but the amount in this recipe is a bit much. If I make this again I will just add 1/3 cup bacon bits and add more to taste. As for the mayo I was going to follow the recipe exactly as written but added the mayo gradually. I'm glad I did this and didn't just dump it in because by the time I got to 1 1/2 cups there was plenty. 3 cups would've been way too much. I recommend this recipe just add 1/3-1/2 of the bacon and mayo and add more if you need to.

Oh-So-Good Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
I made this tonight for dinner. I didn't have mushrooms so I used canned corn, diced red pepper, sliced green onion, and black beans instead as per suggestions from other reviewers. I also added some cumin, cayenne, and pepper to the chicken while it was cooking and some shredded cheddar to the top of the casserole for the last 10 minutes of cook time. I will make again and I will do the same changes.

Cajun Crawfish and Shrimp Etouffe

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
I used double shrimp and omitted crawfish. I also couldn't find fish stock so I used clam nectar from a can which I found near the canned tuna. Other then that I followed the recipe exactly and thought it was pretty good. I didn't think it was too spicy but I felt it was missing something. The seafood seasoning I used was salt-free so I added salt but still felt it needed something else. Will probably make again and try some Cajun seasoning. Also, my roux only took about 5-6 minutes to get to a peanut butter color.
