Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2001
I added an extra cup of milk and tablespoon of flour to extend the recipe. I will be making this again but also adding an additional packet of chicken boullion for extra flavour. Great and easy recipe!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2001
I found the first crust I made was too thick. I had left over for the next day and the crust I made then did not rise as much and was more to my liking. The easiest crust I have ever made. Don't think I will be looking for another.

Crispy Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2001
This is a very tastey pie. The topping is different but has a great flavour. I will make this one again. I used a quiche pan and added about another cup and a half of rhubarb.

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2001
These were very easy to make but even with the pan greased the chips stuck. I found them very sweet but the rest of the family ate them down.

a vary simple chocolatey snack. I think I might try it with whole graham crackers as a base.

Christmas Turtle Candies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2000
A quick treat. Watch the time for the caramels as too little is no good but too long is a mess! I added a little melted parawax to the chocolate( about a tsp) as it gives the chocolate a nice shine.

Cherry Rum Balls

Very tastey and not as sweet as some. I put the piece of cherry in the middle and wrapped the dough around. Makes a large batch.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2000
A great simple recipe. I used peanuts as I just wanted it for a cheap treat for the family while I was busy making chrismas goodies. Next time I would chop the peanuts and put them on the sauce before putting it in the oven, then putting the chocolate chips on as usual. Nuts kept falling off the other way. Don't let the saltines put you off, you'd never know.

Better Than Fruitcake Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2000
These cookies have a very flavour. The problem was that no matter what knife I used they would not cut nicely. They kept braking apart.I tried chilling them more and less and it didn't make a difference. Next time I would not bother to roll them but form into cookies. I also used dates instead of figs and added a few chopped apricots.

Martha Washington Candies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2000
Let me just say that these taste delicious, but mine turned out way too soft. Had to add another cup of sugar then freeze them just to get them hard enough to roll. Also found the melted chocolate was too thick had put about 2 tablespoons of melted wax into about 2 c of chips that thinned it nicely. I have half finished making these and have used about 3 c of chocolate chips already. I did use the ground pecans and that helped in rolling them, I would recommend it. I would make these again and cut the butter by at least half. Would like to hear from anyone else who has made these.

Veggie Lasagna Florentine

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2000
Very tasty recipe. I used at least double the garlic and substituted green pepper for the zucchini as that is what I had on hand. You may want to drain some of the juice off one of the cans of tomatoes. I did and it still boiled over my pan.

Noel Crisps

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2000
This is a very easy recipe. I rolled them in small balls rather than dropping them. I used red and green cherries combined and it gives it a nice festive colour. This cookie is a bit pale and you may want to dip the top in coloured sugar before baking to add extra colour. It took the full 15 minutes in my oven. Will make again.

This is a fantastic recipe and so easy. The combination is a bit strange but don't let it put you off. Will be kept among my favourites.

Chinese Roast Chicken with Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2000
The flavour of the chicken is great! I used low sodium soya and chicken broth and the gravy was still a bit too salty for my taste but you don't need much. Also found that I only needed 1/2 c of soy and about 1/4 c of sesame oil. Will make again.

Pudding Poke Cake

This was a very easy cake to make and so moist. I might cut down on the milk just a little next time by no more that 1/4 cup less.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2000
This is a very easy recipe. I used dry onion soup mixed in water and it worked fine. We ate it the first night sliced with veg and potatoes and the second night on a bun dipped in the juice. Will difinitely make this again. It is so easy. If you have it sliced, make sure you soak the slices in the juice first or it may be a bit dry.

Red Chicken with Vegetables

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2000
I was worried about so much tumeric in the recipe. It does have an East Indian flavour but not too over powering. Everyone enjoyed it even my fussy teenage son. I left out the potatoes and added a few more carrots.

this was an okay recipe. I found it did lack a certain zing. Will go back to my old recipe.
