I'm a newlywed graduate student living in the DC metro area and commuting to Baltimore for school (4-5 times a week). My husband and I love cooking, and although we're quite new at it, we're having a lot of fun.
My favorite things to cook
I do most of the baking in the house, particularly cakes, bread, and other sweets. Cooking-wise, I love making anything with eggs, cheese, pasta, vegetables and/or beans, and most of our meals include meat of some sort.
My favorite family cooking traditions
More than traditions, it's particular foods; apple crisp, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes come to mind.
My cooking triumphs
Orange & soy sauce salmon topped with sauteed kale, baked in an aluminum foil pouch. Got some ideas from allrecipes.com but ended up winging it.
My cooking tragedies
Early on in my cooking life, was making a cake and added double the amount of liquid because I thought there were 16 ounces in a cup. Worst part... it was a box mix. :-(
